I talked to Mary again yesterday and she was doing so well! Her boys were brought to the hospital yesterday to see her, as well as one of her dear friends from work. She has walked the halls, and even visisted another patient in the room next to hers who had the same procedure. She said her only complaint really was her scratchy dry throat. Her leak test was yesterday and she passed that with flying colors. Her catheter was removed so she gets up on her own to the potty now. She is tolerating her one ounce of substance each hour. She's still very zoomed that she made the decision to do this. I'm amazed at how well she is doing... since my young daughter had an open RNY a year ago, and the recovery time was so much slower. Guess the lap procedure is the way to go if you can! Mary is looking forward to going home on Monday!

I spoke to Mary on the phone last night from her room. I talked to her nurse first, who said she was doing just fine, other than the normal discomfort, but that she had her little morphine button and was making good use of it. Then the nurse handed Mary the phone. She told me it took a while to get to the hospital, due to the weather and that about 17 cars were off the road. She made it on time tho, and went to her room about 4 hours after going into surgery. She probably won't remember our conversation, but she really was excited to know it's done now, and the healing and losing begin. HOORAY!!! I plan to call here again this afternoon and will update again!
