9/18/02 Hi AMOS Brothers and Sisters! Well good news...my consultation with my surgeon is Oct 24th YEA!!! I have my psyc eval also on the same day. The doctors office tells me I willhave all my pre-op stuff done by then so they should be able to tell me a surgery date on the 24th. How is that for getting out of the way and letting God work. When I prayed about this I asked him if this was a correct journey for me then let it be smooth. I was approved fitst letter from BCBS, no PCP letter, no 5 years of diet stuff. Freaks me out!! Then....last night my husband and I were talking about all this and he says "we really need to get life insurance on you before this surgery because I would hate to loose you and the house" I can't even explain how I felt inside. I haven't told any of my friends outside the AMOS family, and it is really hard to be honest here but after extensive therapy one of my flaws is keeping things inside. My husband is really a sweetheart and absolutely adores me so it caught me off guard. I would sure appreciate any feedback on this one. Thanks for listening and being there for me. Love and Peace...

9/10/02 OH MAH GAWD....... I got an APPROVAL letter from my insurance company today!!!!! I am just screaming inside and don't know how to make these words bigger and bolder to indicate that.. At the beginning of this journey I prayed that if this surgery was God's will then I would have no obstacles and I have been approved!!! i just got off the phone with the surgeon's office, Dr. Barzune in Dallas and was told to fax a copy of the letter to them and then they would get back in contact with me. I asked for an estimate of when she thought this might all take place because my daughter lives in England and wants to come home to take care of me will I heal and I need to give her some sort of time frame. I was told consultations and preops are already being scheduled for October and that surgery may take place in late October early November. I am in school (at 48 I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up) besides a normal weight, and the semester ends December 11. Maybe it will all work out and I can do this between semesters. And one more plus to the entire thing....all my husbands family are coming to our house for Christmas and if I am mending from surgery then they all have to take care of me. That should make the situation less stressful. I am so grateful to all of you who have gone before me and those of you that give me the hope and strength to continue on. What a cool family the site has turned out to be. Thanks be to God!!! Peace and Love from Keller Texas...

8/20/02 Yea!!!! It's official, I am in the loser game. I got my letter from Dr. Barzune's office saying they have sent the letter of pre-determination to my insurance carrier. I know that after my prayers of whether this is right for me, this is the next step in the process. I must say when I saw the letter in the mailbox I was afraid it was a rejection letter. I just sent my information to the doctor on the 12th, and there is no way they could have sent it to the insurance company and back to me, but my insanity tells me that one way or another this process won't work for me, everyone else but not me. Now they tell me it can be up to 2-4 weeks before they get anything back from BCBS but will notify me when they do. They also suggest I contact the insurance company because, and I quote "Your insurance company will respond much more quickly if you are persistent." And I will be!!!! All who are having surgery soon are in my thoughts and prayers. Love and Peace...
