My surgery is one-week away today! I can hardly believe it, now if I could only reduce the nervousness, I'd be great! Yesterday, my PCP called to report that the abdominal CT scan that he ordered last week was negative, and that all systems are go for the surgery. I'm in the eleventh hour and probably second-guessing every other minute. I've started to debate whether the RNY is the vorrect procedure, or should I have gone the route of the DS/BPD. Well, at this point, I have a surgery date, insurance approval, and a great surgeon, so I guess that I just need to convince myself to stick to my decision!

Well, my surgery date ius now just nine short days away. I'm getting more nervous about this decision. However, I paid my deductible to my surgeon's office today, so I guess I'm still moving forward toward surgery. I think that I'm researching too much now. I am scheduled for an RNY-Proximal, but I have been reading about the positive experiences of the Duodenal Switch with BPD. I'm starting to get overloaded with information. I have 200 pounds to loose to attain my goal weight, I just want to get the correct procedure (RNY proximal or distal, or DS/BPD) to provide the greatest assistance to achieve that goal.

On June 11th, I completed all of my pre-admission tests at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. I can't believe that it is now less than two weeks for my surgery date. Now I'm nervous! I've been second-guessing this decision ever since I received a confirmed surgery date. I've been having some dull pain in my lower left abdominal quadrant, my PCP has sent me for a CT scan. Hopefully, the CT scan will be negative, I've been thinking of all of horrible things that I could have with colon problems. However, I think it is probably nerves regarding the upcoming surgery. I am also hpoing that the CT scan doesn't show something that will interfere with my surgery date. While I'm second and third-guessing about this WLS surgery decision, I hope that I am able to stick with this decision and that iti s the correct decision.

woo hoo congrats david on your win with the insurance company. don't worry about second guessing your decision. i think we all went thru that, at least i know i did. you will be fine:) see ya on the losing side:) (feels good to say that)lol. tammie 320/280 march 14th, 2003
