Dear Rosanna- you are not alone! I went thru the wide open incision phase too, as have a few others on the site. I still went back to work 2 wks post-op, with abinder over the packed wound. I am healed, 10 wks post op and down 60 lbs. You can do this. Keep your protein intake as high as you can- and exercise (walk) both will help the healing. I am a *former* diabetic, so I was way worried about the healing. Have faith* it will get better

Dear Roseanna...............I'm so sorry that you are having after surgery pains. It's hard going at first but you have a good attitude knowing it won't last long. I can't wait for you to start getting to the good part where you have more energy and people begin to compliment on on your weight loss and how good you're looking. I bet you feel the exact same way! lol Hang in there, Roseanna! I wish all the very best. God bless :)

Hello to all my beloved AMOS family. I am nearly in tears from pain as I sit here and type this update. I had WLS on 8-20-02 and it did not go smooth as I was prepared for. I thought I was going to get LAP RNY, but due to severe scar tissue from my gallbladder surgery in 99, I had to have OPEN RNY. Dr.Cacchione said I was doing well, but I am NOT going to sugar coat this pain. I can barely move, and getting up and down on my own is almost impossible, but I do my best to get around on my own. The doctor said the more I walk, the better I would feel....but the more I walk the more pain that I am in....I have almost 40 staples in my stomach, and an opening where my JP tube was at and it is soooooo painful....I am looking at the brighter side that in a few weeks I will be glad I did this, but to be honest, when I first woke up I was crying and saying Im a fool for doing this to myself...I felt like I was dying and I had so many tubes in my nose and stomach....and hooked to IVS, and monitors...my first impression of the surgery was OMG IVE SLOWLY KILLED MYSELF AND IM DYING IN AGONIZING PAIN! I guess I was just shocked that it wasnt a LAP RNY . When I had my gallbladder removed, everything went very well....in 2 days I was up and doing my "normal" routine. This surgery, as I have to keep reminding myself is greater than a gallbladder surgery. I know in the long run this surgery is going to save my life..and every obstacle that I endure, I try to look at it as a stepping stone for me to move higher up and be the person I know that is within me...I want that bright, beautiful girl inside me to shine through just like my personality does...Time has a way of healing all wounds( not sure who said that, but thats how i have to look at life at this point).I just want everyone in my wondeful AMOS family to please say a prayer for me, and I will continue to say prayers for all of you as well. I LOVE MY AMOS FAMILY!!! RosannaKY

Angel here.... Just called Rosanna, she is REALLY groggy and having a hard time talking with the icky tube in her. I told her I would call her later this afternoon, I could hear a nurse in the room telling her they were gonna get her out of bed. The leak test is scheduled for later today I believe. I will report more as I find it out. Flying off now... ^j^

Hi Rosanna Hope you had a safe journey to the other side. Keep us posted "Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, any one can start from now and make a brand new ending." "Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult." ~ Julia Cameron "The block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the strong. That block of granite is often nothing more than a decision." ~ Thomas Carlyle "Being yourself is not remaining what you were, or being satisfied with what you are. It is the point of departure." ~ Sydney Harris I am convinced that attitude is the key to success or failure in almost any of life's endeavors. Your attitude - your perspective, your outlook, how you feel about yourself, how you feel about other people - determines your priorities, your actions, your values. Your attitude determines how you interact with other people and how you interact with yourself. ~ Carolyn Warner It's never too late to be what you might have been. ~ George Eliot May you always have an Angel by your side. Watching out for you in all the things you do. Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days. Angel reporting in... YEAH!!! We actually got to have the surgery today! She came through with flying colours althought they had to do an open incision instead of the Lap, like we were hoping. Dr. Cacchione just called me to let me know how she was doing and I will be calling her sometime tomorrow. (I figure she is too drugged to talk to anyone tonight.) Thank you for all of your prayers and positive thoughts. Blessed be! ^j^
