Lisa Lee has left the hospital and gone home! Let's all wish her a wonderful recovery.

Lisa Lee! Sorry you have been having some complications. I hope everything turns out okay with your pancreas. We are all thinking of you here and I look forward to hearing how you are doing... Love,

I spoke with Lisa today. She is still in the hospital. She has been receiving TPN (total parenteral nutrition--intravenous "food"). She is going to have a needle procedure done on her pancreas tomorrow by the radiologists and her pancreatic drain will be pulled out. Lisa is hoping to go home Friday.

Lisa Lee is still in the hospital after her surgery last Friday to relieve her biliary obstruction. Her T-tube (biliary drainage tube) was removed today. She still has a pancreatic drainage tube in place. She hopes to be out by next Wednesday, April 12. She is being weaned from her pain medications and much more cheerful.

Lisa had surgery today. She was in surgery for about 3 hours. I'm not exactly sure which procedure she had to relieve her biliary obstruction. She's in the ICU for "precautions" only. Her nurse said she was doing well.

Lisa, keep the faith. There are bumps in the road sometimes but just keep traveling down that road!!! And Heddy-Dale, thanks for the updates. To all the "angels" out there, thanks for what you do, too.

Lisa had a successful "T-tube" placement(a drainage tube that is placed through the skin, through the liver, and into the bile ducts to drain bile) yesterday. She said her bilirubin has fallen from 15 to 5 (which is great!) She believes she will have surgery on Monday, April 3, to diagnose and relieve her biliary obstruction. She seems more cheerful today, and is not having any pain other than that from the drainage tube. I'm sure she would appreciate any cards, letters, notes, "cheer-me-ups," etc. Heddy-Dale Matthias, M.D. (Roux-en-Y Dec. 99)
