Hi Susan, I just wanted to post a word of encouragement to you. I have a 12 year old and a two year old. I wondered the same thing about my 2 year old. What if something were to happen to me, he wouldn't remember me. Well, I decided (and had a peace about) the fact that if I didn't do something to lose this weight, he would lose me from obesity related problems later on. I trusted that God was going to protect me during the surgery and He did. I prayed before the surgery that IF something did happen, then my husband would remarry someone who would be a better mother and wife than I was. I had a peace about going into the surgery that no matter what happend, everything would work out. No one can tell you whether you should have the surgery or not, you have to make that decision between yourself and God. I'm now almost 9 weeks post-op and doing well. It's not an easy road but I'm learning every day how to eat again. I'm down 40 lbs as of today. Take care and God bless!

Hello Susan - <b>Congratulations</b> on your upcoming surgery!   You'll find the changes that follow, nothing short of a miracle. My humble advice?  Walk as much as possible after surgery.  As your body begins to heal make sure to get in your protein, even if it means plugging your nose and chugging back the protein drinks in baby [pouch] gulps.  Vitamins need to be chopped, minced or crushed... whatever it takes to get them in daily, no exceptions, YOU are worth it.   Also, let's not forget your new best(est) friend, water.  It is SO important to get your minimum 64 oz in daily. One final thing, remember to <b>CELEBRATE</b> all the special moments along the way, big or small.  Too many people focus only on the number, ie. pounds lost.  There are so many "moments" to look forward to and embrace, don't let any of them slip by.   Enjoy your new healthier life because you've more then earned it!!   <i>"The key to happiness is dreams, the key to success is making those dreams come true"</i>  Hugs & smiles -

Hi, Susan: Just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your upcoming surgery! Regarding giving up caffeine, my advice is to take it slowly. I tried giving up my Diet Coke cold turkey, and I ended up so tired and wiped out that I had to just gradually cut back. I'm two weeks out now, and believe it or not, I actually crave ice-cold water! Good luck, and God Bless!
