4 Days Post Op

Jun 17, 2013

Yesterday was good at the start. Progressively got worse, trying not to take too much hydrocodone…….lots of pain from the gas, lots of discomfort in the specific area of he surgery. Every time I move my guts feel like they are going to fall out, sharp and burning pain, I finally started holding my stomach with my left hand, supporting the painful area, and it really help with the pain when I move or stand.

In bed I wedge the pillows on either side of my stomach and it allows me to turn partially on my side and avoid the pain from my stomach moving in one direction o another. Found an ace bandage, wrapped that area with it, seems to be helping a lot.

Another discovery today, while walking around, I stopped in the master bath. I was examining my incisions in the mirror when I placed my hands on the counter and leaned forward. Immediately I felt gas bubbles move around on the backside of my stomach and intestines. Since I can't lay on my stomach to try and move gas bubbles, leaning over like this is as close as you can get. It definitely helps.

3 Days Post Op

Jun 16, 2013

lots of gas and gas pain. been trying to walk as much as possible. kind of hard to get 60-80 oz of liquid down when you have to take in so little at a time. my friends are jello and popsicles, broths satisfy my taste buds.

There is some swelling on the left side of my stomach, probably where most of the work took place.

i'm still uncomfortable and in some pain, incisions look good. everything I've read says this will go on for quite a while...6-7 days...back to see Dr Marvin Thurs...

EGD -Stomach Scope

Apr 02, 2013

So I had an EGD a couple of weeks ago. Dr Marvin sent in a specimen for a biopsy. Turns out I have H Pylori. I started a two week treatment of antibiotics and Pepcid Sunday March 31st, will retest the week of May 13th. My last nutritional consultation is May 17th, should still be able to have surgery early June.

Dr Varon gave me Pulmonary clearance to forward with my surgery. The last evaluation is the stomach scope done by my surgeon, Dr Marvin, Monday the 18th. My 3 month supervised diet ends May 20th. I suspect my surgery will be first/second week in June.

Pshyc Evaluation

Mar 13, 2013

Phsyc evaluation went well. Dietician suggested to start reducing intake and cleaning out the cupboard and rhw fridge of all those unwanted foods, (unwanted...seriously??? LOL!), over the next couple of months in preparation for surgery and post op lifestyle change. I have Stress Test Thurs, little nervous about that. Continuing the journey.

Initial

Mar 13, 2013

Met with Dr Marvin Tuesday, Feb 12. I must say I think he's going to be alright. He was thorough with the exam and listened to everything I had to say or ask about. Here are some of my numbersBMI - 46.1, fasting sugar 120, Triglycerides 530, sleep apnea, OGT elevated (fatty liver).....need I say more. Said he's ready to help me.

About an hour after I left I got a call from University General Hospital to schedule my Phsyc and Dietician/Supervised diet appt and labs. The next day the Cardiaologist called and schedlued the stress test. Today the abdominal ultrasound was scheduled. Next two weeks, Monday 18th Phsyc, dietician and labs, Thurs 21st stress test, Tues 26th ultrasound. Still waithing on the Pulmonary exam to be scheduled (I'll call them Monday). Then Dr Marvin wantd to to a EGD (stomach scope).

They said the supervised diet had to be for three months. That puts the earliest time for surgery June/July....provided all test check out ok.

Moving forward!
