Four Weeks Post Op
Apr 13, 2011
Main issue this week is that I have no desire to eat, nothing sounds good. I have been able to eat anything~in little servings~ and the only thing I have been sick on is my vitamins on an empty stomach.
So my goals for this next week is increasing my fluids and increasing my exercise!! Another MD appt in two weeks!
Three Weeks Post Op
Apr 06, 2011
Wow...today is three weeks! Parts of it have gone by fast both others, not so much. I have been on liquids only and it is getting really old. I am having a hard time choking down the soups and shakes anymore. I did good the first two weeks and lost 10 pounds after surgery and now I have hit my first "wall". I've lost .2 pounds this week. What??? Yes, that is "point 2" pounds. I know that I need to work on getting my calories and exercise up and maybe that will begin to help.
Frist MD follow up is tomorrow and I am going to have them take my measurements. I can see that I am a bit smaller and I can get jeans on that I couldn't wear before surgery (and my boobs are noticeably smaller!) so something has to be working. I just continue to look to the scale for validation and it just isn't there right now. I hope that this isn't the extent of my weightloss!
Reading the posts of others and posting my frustrations on the Lw board has helped....seeing that there are others that are out there in the same boat I am.~ much better than feeling like I am rowing alone.
Hope the MD visit goes well tomorrow!
Pre-Op Liquids Only---boy am I hungry....
Mar 02, 2011
Here it is...Day 3 of liquids only. UUgghhh. I've tried to stay busy and go to bed early, but I am still pretty darn hungry! I've actually had a hard time getting in enough protein, so I guess this is good practice for after the surgery.
I am losing about a pound a day on the liquids....which is awesome. My tummy feels tighter already! :) Hard to believe that the surgery is less than two weeks away!!! Currently at 216 and can't wait to be in the 100's again!
Here we go....
Feb 21, 2011
A little history....I have been overweight ever since I can remember. I grew up being a "sturdy girl"---not fat but never being called "thin" either! The first time I remember weighing was in the 6th grade at 136 pounds. I played sports through highschool and graduated at 145 pounds. Forty pounds found their way to me during college and an additional 10 in the years after. Apparently this happens when you live on Top Ramen!
I hit my highest weight when I was pregnant at 226 pounds and developed gestational diabetes. Post-baby I worked hard got down to 195 pounds and stopped cold. My weight just wouldn't go down. In 2006 I even trained for and completed a full marathon and I didn't lose a pound. EVEN PUTTING IN ALL THOSE MILES...DIDN'T LOSE 1 POUND!! But---I did develop arthritis in my right hip that has plagued my workout abilities since. :( One hip surgery and several steroid injections later and I am still having problems.
In 2007 I did the ketosis diet with my trailer (along with horribly grueling and painful workouts) and lost 25 pounds. I was doing great until I looked at a carb and it was all over. More and more carbs started sneaking their way in and within 18 months had gained 40 pounds back and felt miserable and guilty. I went up and down the next few years but more up than down!
Over the past two years my blood pressure crept up to where I had to start medication. I am now considered diabetic. Wow....I'm falling apart!
This past December I started praying hard for the Lord's help and I was led to Dr. Pennings. I attended an informational meeting and had a one-on-one consult in January. I then had a sleep study that showed I also suffer from sleep apnea. GREAT. Dr. Penning's office got everything together and submitted it to insurance and I received the call this morning that my surgery is scheduled for MARCH 14!! Yes, as in three weeks from today!!! Wow.... I am nervous and thankful at the same time.
Any pre-surgery suggestions are greatly appreciated!
