Reached goal yesterday, Sat. 7/22/2012

Jul 23, 2012

I made it!  8 months and 3 weeks after my surgery date of 12/5/2011, and I'm down to 150 lbs and BMI of 25; down from an all time high of 262, and 45 BMI.

God is great!

I'm so happy!!!

May 11, 2012

I'm 3 lbs away from having lost 100 lbs.  This is amazing.  I'm wearing 32" pants and small shirts (depending on the brand).  Calvin Klein runs very tight, so mediums are somewhat tight, but golf polos are definitely small.  Woohoo!

No longer obese!

Apr 23, 2012

I am down to 175, and only 25 lbs away from my goal.  According to the BMI tables I am no longer obese, but just overweight.  Most of all I have just about lost 90 lbs in just under 5 months.  I am so thrilled at the lifesaving effects of RNY.  I am so happy!

Down to 177 @ 4.5 months after surgery

Apr 18, 2012

Very excited of all the changes.  I am in very loose 34" pants I've had for a couple of months, but have discovered the joys of thrift stores.  Need to get a pair of 32" to tide me over again, and a couple of more medium shirts.  I think it's definitely possible to get to even 28", and small shirt.

The manager of the gym did a bodyfat measurement with a handheld bioimpedance device, and I'm at 26% bodyfat.  Would really like to get to 15-14%, and I know that's doable.

Also having lipo on 5/11 on upper and lower abs, waist, chest, and pubes to help along the stubborn deposits.  Even though my current goal is 150, I think getting to 140 is possible.

God is great!

Under 200 lbs for first time in 11 years!

Feb 26, 2012

I've made it under 200 lbs!  I weighed this morning, and I'm at 197 for a total loss of 65 lbs since my surgery on 12/5/11.  Very excited about the changes.

I'm at halfway!!! Woo-hoo!!!

Feb 12, 2012

Weighed this morning and big surprise!  Lost 4.5 lbs since Friday (2/10/12).  I am now at my halfway mark to my target weight.  Very stoked and happy.  I had weighed myself Thursday or Friday last week and noticed I had stayed at the same weight for nearly 6 days, and I was NOT happy at all.  Then after this weekend, I woke up this morning and weighed as I do every 5-6 days, and I had gone down to 205.5!!!.

Only 3.5 lbs to go to losing 60 lbs!!!  I am amazed that putting in even a modicum of effort by working out about 4 times per week has paid off so much.  Everyone at work is very complimentary about my weight loss.  Although I am now wearing large shirts and medium-sized workout shorts/sweats, 34" jeans, I will soon (in about 1/2 month) be wearing medium shirts.

My nemesis is this small jelly roll at the bottom of my stomach.  I am noticing that the more I swap out my workouts, between cardio and weightlifing, I am keeping my body from getting used to my weight loss.  2012 is definitely looking better.

So close to halfway!

Feb 03, 2012

I'm so darn close to halfway!  This is amazing!  I am working out 4-5 times per week: my favorite is boxing class on Saturdays with Willie, a former Army drill instructor.  I get my frustrations from the previous week out.  I just a few more pounds, I'll be under 200 lbs for the first time in 10 years.  This is the best decision I've made in a LONG time!

Wow

Jan 16, 2012

I'm amazed at how quickly this is happening.  I'm just about halfway to my target weight in 1 month and 11 days.  I wen to see my dietician today, and she was very complimentary on my weightloss.  I've kept this surgery a secret from my parents.  I only get to go home about 1x per year.  I already have the plane ticket bought.  I fly down to Orlando after work on May 2, and get to spend my birthday weekend with them and show them the new me.  It's exciting.  I gotta have some pics taken soon, to show the progress.

Encouragement

Dec 31, 2011

3 weeks, 5 days since surgery and I've already lost 31.5 lbs.  This is truly wonderful, and THE best decision I've made in my entire life.  I started back at the gym post-surgery yesterday for a Step II class.  The instructor was going a bit fast, more than 120 bpm, and the choreography was difficult; lots of syncopated steps, plus her accent made her difficult to understand.  I lasted about 35-40 minutes before calling it a workout.  Today, I did a Step/Sculpt class, which I did the full hour.  The weights were difficult, but it's only my second workout post-surgery.  My 38" jeans are so baggy on me; I'm going to get ONE pair of cheap 36".

It's a little discouraging though that different clothing companies measurements aren't all the same; it's a bite in the butt when one company's 36" don't feel like another's 36" jeans.  How about some uniformity?

With the exception of one pesky laproscopic incision, all have healed nicely and are sealed.  Putting Neosporin on them is important as they have healed quicker than just on their own.

I can't believe this is just one month after surgery, and I've lost so much.  Thanks to my wonderful surgeon, who gave me back the hope to a good, longer life.

Two weeks post-op

Dec 17, 2011

Tomorrow, 12/19/2011, will be two weeks post-op and I've lost 24.2 lbs.  I am still amazed at the way RNY has changed and will continue to change my life.  I don't feel like I'm walking in slow motion anymore, but I'm actually starting to speed up and catch up with the rest of life.  My 38" baggy jeans are startint to feel really lose on me, and before long i'll be able to get into 36; something I haven't done in over 5 years.  I can seriously see myself at my target weight of 150.  My new stomach, Seymour, has been kinder to me than what I've heard from others, although at first he had just woken up and was talking to me letting me know who was boss.  I go back to work tomorrow, and I know a lot of people will notice the weight I've already lost.
