October 30, 2006. I just found out on Friday that my Revision finally got approval! I'm so excited. I have only been working on this since my 38th birthday on july 26th. So I don't think it was too bad THIS time.........but sit back for a minute and let me tell you my little story.
In 1995 I had the VBG done by Dr. Fox and Dr Oh was the assistant surgeon. I went from 288lbs to 185 in less than six months. I had so much fun losing the weight. I got pregnant with my son and while I was pregnant I ate and my staple line came un-done.......called a "staple line disruption"..........anywhoo..........I didn't gain too much weight in the pregnancy but after I had him.......I was able to eat a little bit more and a little bit more....................within two years.......I was straddling around the 240 mark.
In the year 2000 i got pregnant with our third child and that seems to be where I gained a lot of weight and unable to take it off.
I researched the revision then..........and got approved but thought once we moved to my husband's home state of Texas then the insurance approval would still be good.......boy, was I wrong.......and sometimes I regretted moving because I wouldn't have had to wait this long............But I know everything has a time and a reason..............
We moved to Texas for ten months and decided to move back. We missed our friends and family way too much........
I tried for approval once again in 2003 and once again was rejected......by my insurance. So you would think I would give up right?? WRONG! I knew someday I would be able to get this done.............just knew with prayer and preserverance.......the day would come.................and WOW it finally has!
I looked into another approval two years ago.......and again got rejected.
My husband got a job this past summer with the federal government and right there in their insurance policy it states that they would pay for it! So with my 38th birthday approaching............I called Dr Oh's office and made an appt to get the ball rolling once again. He ok'd me for surgery................they got the paperwork going and at first I was denied then all it took was for Tina to fax some more paperwork to the company and I got approved. I actually cried on the phone I was so excited.
My surgery date is December 5th.........and then i'm off from work and college for winter break for 5 weeks. I am in the nursing program at grays harbor community college.
I am so excited to be the wife and mom that I know has been inside of me for all these years....................Life is Good!
I have been with my husband for 20 years and we have 3 children. Ages 17, 9 and 6. I love them so much and they are the reason I am doing this to become more active with them. We love to go in the outdoors and nothing stops me now I can't wait to see how adventurous we become when I lose my weight.
