Hey
Just a quick update. I am almost 7 months post op and I've hit the 100 pound mark! I now weigh 204. My pre-op was 304.
I'm so excited. I can't wait to get under the 200 pounds mark. I haven't weighed in the 100's in years......
For the most part i'm feeling really good. My blood work is good and I have had no complications.
I did end up in the ER the other night with a kidney stone passing but it had nothing to do with my bypass.
Other than that..........we just took a 10 day vacation. We rode tons of rides and walked lots of miles at Disneyland and it felt great.
Also the heat didn't bother me as much as it used to.
I'm doing great and if you want to email me you can at micheleandleroy@yahoo.com or post them here..............
talk to you soon!

Hey everyone
just a quick update. I've lost 90 pounds and still going strong! I'm not having too many issues with sagging skin because i'm working out.
Today is the best day!!! I got in my old container of old clothes that i've been "saving" and i got into almost all of them! Size 14's and 16's WOW I'm so excited.
Some of my size 18 pants i've passed right up and now they are too big. Well, off to the clothing box they go! No big deal...................wheeee!!

Can you tell i'm just a little excited about this whole thing? I'm getting loads of compliments. Things are just getting easier to do.......ie; walking up stairs and just moving around.

I have 5 weeks left of school and then i'm out for the summer. I can't wait to relax and sit by the pool. That's right in a bathing suit! haha......actually i've always felt confident in a bathing suit but now i know i look GOOD in one hee hee.......
we're also going to Disneyland next month and i'm so looking forward to riding rides and not having the worry whether the gate will shut or the belt will fit............................woohoo!!

Well, I take the LPN test in the summer as well so I will be studying for that when I get back from vacation.
I will go back in September to finish my RN and then I get to enjoy life for  while...............
not that i'm not enjoying it now.
I'm having the time of my life literally.

My hubby and I went out dancing last weekend and it felt so good to get out there and dance the night away. We've always been good dancers but you can see my confidence is shining through!

Well, hope all is going well for everyone.......love to you all.

85 pounds gone so far.
Feeling great so far. I wish I'd keep up with my supplements and protein drinks.......I know I'd have more energy. Not that I'm complaining!
I'm having fun living life!
I'm almost done with my first year of nursing school and I just feel great!
My kids, hubby and I are riding horses, quads.........hiking. Just enjoying doing all the things I've felt I've been missing out on before.
I'm enjoying the attention. I cut my hair real short and highlighted it blonde so people that i've known for years are walking by me and not recognizing me until I say something to them. It's so much fun!
I'm enjoying walking around town with my husband and living again. I think hiding behind the weight I became an extrovert homebody. Although I didn't feel like it because we were always on the go.
well, ttfn and i'll update more later.
oh yes and i took measurements two weeks after surgery and then again the other day and so far i've lost over 26 inches from all over!! woohoo!
I'm not shrinking in my boobs anymore.........yay! I was getting worried hahaha

talk to you all soon!

First of all Happy New Year everyone!
I had a great holiday and couldn't believe that this New Year's I didn't have to make a "deal" with myself for this to be the year that I lose weight. I'm on my way!!

I went to my one month follow up and i've lost 35 pounds. Not bad for one month huh?
I'm  on soft foods and will eat regular occasionally. I am feeling a bit more normal and we go out to eat now and I just share my hubby's or kids meals.

I hope everyone is doing great!
Would love to have comments!

love you all!
Good luck for those who are going in to surgery soon. It is the most important thing you can do for YOURSELF!!

I'm so excited. I haven't come down yet.
I'm starting to really notice it in my face and the way my clothes are fitting.
Get to start my proteins today and vitamins. The protein drank gave me a lot of energy to Christmas shop all day with the family.
Also got my staples out. Feels so much normal now.

Well Hello everyone!
I'm feeling really good today. My energy is so good in the morning but i'm usually tired by the afternoon. At least yesterday that is what happened.
Just wanted to let you all know last night I had a weird nervous thing happening. I felt like jumping out of my skin. I don't know what it was. Maybe it was boredom. But i had to take a little swig of my pain medication and it toned me right down. weird huh?
Anyways i get my staples out tomorrow and I can't wait they are starting to pinch.
well, i better go.
love ya

12/11/06 POST OP!!

Dec 11, 2006

Hi everyone!

Well,  the surgery went well and uneventful.
I got my cardiologist clearance monday December 4th. My husband and I spent a night in the hotel and got to the hospital at 0530 on Tuesday December 5th. After they started my IV and got things rolling time seemed to fly by but the wait was horrible up to that.
My surgery went longer than usual due to a lot of scar tissue from my last gastroplasty and then he had to cut the old mesh band out.
I got to my room and pretty much slept the whole night.
I got up at 0400 the next morning and I felt pretty good.
I walked a lot, sipped a lot of water and ice chips and felt pretty good. I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall and the pain to hit me but it never did.
I went home on Thursday, which I was pleased about. The hospital was great but I wasn't getting any sleep. Every time i'd doze off they'd come into the room to see if i needed anything or to take my vitals.

The hospital and staff were excellent.

I'm home and moving around real good. I had an open RNY-distal and my incision still has some staples in it. I'm getting them out Wednesday when I have my first post op appt.
I'm showering well, tolerating clear liquids good and have had nothing to complain about so far.
I even went shopping yesterday to our local little mall. It's not crowded and it felt good to get out and walk. I'm tired of sitting.

well, have a great day and I'll update after my post op appt and let you know some numbers lost woohoo!!
I'm going to say my starting was 300. That is what I weighed the day before Thanksgiving when I started the liquid diet.
I'm also 5'9.

3 more days!
Wow I can hardly believe the time is coming so fast.
I have Sunday, Monday and wake up on Tuesday to head for the hospital............yippee!

Today we are decorating our tree. I want to make sure everything is done before I go in.
Did anyone else feel a little scared right before? I mean I know i'm going to make it through the surgery ok. but then a little voice in the back of my head will say things like "am i doing the right thing?" "What if I died"......."Am i going to ruin my kids lives?"
Reading past posts from other patients this seems to be normal and I quickly get rid of the negative thought and replace them with how wonderful i'm going to feel afterwards and how great of a surgeon that I have.
Well, have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Enjoy the nice sun and get your lights up! haha.........
This clear liquid diet is giving me so much energy it's nice to get rid of the toxins in my body!

I can't believe how fast time is flying.
I've been so busy with finals for school, I haven't had much time to let things catch up to me and give it much thought.
I did see the vitalady today and that was fantastic, they are great and know exactly what you need and the prices are wonderful.
Her husband, Don was very encouraging. They both had the bypass 12 years ago and they have kept off the weight.

Well, so far everything looks good. Of course my biggest fear would be for the cardiologist to see something and call Dr Oh and cancel my surgery. But I don't foresee that happening. Besides my heart will be great with some weight off this body! haha........

well, i'm getting excited. We've got a lot of plans for this weekend and I have to study for one more final that i'm going to take on monday so that ought to keep my mind off the surgery. Then Monday my hubby and I are heading to see the cardiologist and then stay in a hotel by the hospital and spend some time alone before i have to go in Tuesday at 0530 yikes!! haha.

well, i'll update more later.
oh by the way the clear liquid thing preop isn't going too bad either. i have a moment here and there but after the first day it's no big deal.

Nov 26, 2006

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend.
Mine was the best ever. I actually had to start my liquid diet a week prior to Thankgiving..........so it was really nice to go to my brothers house and spend the holiday without wanting to "gorge" on food. I actually got to enjoy visiting with all my relatives and my sister-in-law's side of the family. Usually I'm the one sitting and eating the whole day! It was a pleasant change. I didn't do too bad. It actually made me kind of sick to watch how everyone was "stuffing" themselves.
Well, I had Dr Fajardo, internal medicine look me over last week and he found a discrepancy on my EKG so he wanted me to see a cardiologist before my surgery.
They got me in the very next day to a cardiologist, Dr Zhoul, man he is great. He's doing some tests on my early this week so I can make sure I can get through the surgery ok.
I've never had a problem with my heart before this was new for me. I know having 100 pounds off will make a huge difference.........but I guess the anesthesiologists would want these tests......so i'm glad we don't have to postpone my surgery.
9 days and counting.
I'm on my clear liquids (for the most part.......some things aren't clear but still liquid) and things are going well, I can tell i've already lost some weight because my clothes fit better today.
I'm just trying to get pre-surgical things done.......i know i'll be down for a while.
i put my christmas decorations up yesterday. Next weekend we're getting the tree up.
I'm so excited.
Time is just flying.
I have my finals too for this quarter to keep my busy. So time is just flying by.
I can't believe how long i have waited to get this surgery and it's finally coming.
