Well, Michelle from Dr. Keshishian's called me this morning and gave me the name of the surgeon for my consult for hysterectomy. I called and they scheduled me for next Tuesday Feb 24 at 10am. Hope to get all my paperwork done quickly, so i am ready for my DS if my insurance comes through without a hitch.

I still hadn't heard anything about the ob/gyn part of my DS, they want to do my hysterectomy the same time they do my DS, 1 cut 2 operations. But I hadn't heard anything since the day I went in for my consult and that was on feb 4th, I called Michelle today at Dr. Keshishian's and she has submitted my paperwork for my DS to my insurance but hasn't referred me to a ob/gyn. She says there was no note for her in my records. She is going to e-mail Dr. Keshishian and ask him. I am afraid it is going to really delay my DS having to go through all the tests etc plus the first consult for the ob/gyn, Not to mention they will have to submit for approval for that also through my insurance.

Hopefully I will hear something soon.

I got my phone call tonight at 6 from my nutritionist. She spoke to me for about 10 minutes and said she highly recommends me for the DS. She was going to fax over her report tonight, so maybe they will send my paper work off tomorrow! =)

I went to my doctor today for my physical and documentation for Dr. Keshishian. Had to make 2 trips, because I didn't have the right stuff faxed over the first time. But I got it now!

Now, I just need the nutritionist to call, so I can get that done. And they can send off my paperwork to medi-cal for approval.
However I do need to still see the OB/GYN over there, he is going to be doing my hysteroctomy at the same time, and I haven't even got to meet him yet. I'm not sure how that works. I assume they gotta get approval for my hysteroctomy at the same time as my DS. So it might be a few more weeks yet. 

I'm just glad to get that done. Getting a little closer with each appt. =)

I had my appt today at Dr. Keshishian's. It went very well. I got my psychologist appt done. All I need is for my doctor to clear me for surgery, and send a letter of necessity to Dr. Keshishian's office. I also need for the nutritionist to call me for my over the phone appt. And than I just need approval from medi-cal.

Also, I told Dr. Keshishian I was scheduled for a hysterectomy in December but I had canceled because I didn't wanna have that done to close to a WLS. So I had put it off. He told me today we might be able to schedule that at the same time as my DS. Get it all done at once. One cut, two surgeries, sounds like a good idea to me!

Diane from Dr. Keshishian's office called me today to set up my consult and psych appt for Feb. 4th. My insurance doesn't pay for the psych appt but they do pay for the nutritionist. I have my appt at 9:00am, and the psychologist comes in at 1:00pm, so it looks like an all day thing.

Seems to be moving a little faster, I believe my insurance wont give me any trouble. Hopefully they will be swift with an approval.

As giddy as I am, you would think I was already given a surgery date! lol  

I got a call from Sandra from (FHC) this morning, and she said she had called Dr. Keshishian's and was waiting for them to call her back, She is leaving my local office and wont be here for referrals anymore, and wants to wrap up her cases.

Well she called me about 10 minutes ago and said she spoke to Michelle, and they are going to accept me as a patient and they will be contacting me in the next couple weeks.

I am so happy! I know there might be lots more obstacles, but this is out of the way now! So, now I wait for the appts.

I called Michelle today and she still doesn't know if the doctor will see me as a patient. He hadn't came in when I called.

I did talk to her about my medi-cal, I have blue cross atm and the hospital doesn't take that. But they do take straight medi-cal. So I called and ended up going down to the medi-cal office, and I changed my medi-cal to straight medi-cal, it will be effective as of 2-1-09.

Michelle said it would be easier if I do end up going to their office. She is calling tomorrow to let me know if they will accept me as a patient. I am just glad the call backs etc are fairly quick, even though I am honestly no closer today than I was back in November. lol

A glimmer of hope! Hopefully I will find out tomorrow. Til tomorrow ;)

Well.. the support meeting went well, Dr. Keshishian answered questions for the meeting, there was technical difficulties with the visuals. He answered a lot of questions about vitamins, kidney stones and about how the DS helps with type 2 diabetes cure.

I talked to him and Dee after the meeting, I was supposed to talk to Michelle, but she couldn't make it. =( I asked a few questions mainly about what do I do now,  they both said they would let her know I spoke to them, and to call her in the morning.

I also spoke to him about my shunt, that was a huge concern of mine, it runs into my abdominal cavity and was concerned if they would have to externalize it for the surgery, he said no, there is no problem operating with the shunt draining in there and no more chance of infection. EXCEPT if I got a leak, the infection could go up the line, which leads to my spine. But that is only for a leak, I am sure they would watch close for a leak, knowing I get double whammy for a leak. I forgot to ask about adhesions, I have had 5 abdominal surgeries, I look like I got a stitched map of texas on my tummy.

So, tomorrow I call Michelle and see if I can get an appt. Apparently the main issue is the hospital accepting my insurance, not so much the doctors office.

And Dr. Keshishian was awesome. I really hope to become his patient. So now I hurry up and wait. hehe

Oh oh and I got to meet Georgina S. and Jo. F! Both are fantastic gals!

Ok... soooo Michelle from Dr. Keshishian's is an angel, She had a talk with Dr. Keshishian and told him how disappointed I was when I found out they dont take my insurance anymore, and told him I had been trying to get a referral for a long time. And he told her to have me come to the next group meeting which is tuesday night 1-13-09. 
My doctors office has been so sweet. She kept calling to find out if they needed anything to help get this along. She sent my paperwork over and the authorization from blue cross. Now I await to meet them at the group meeting, I am very excited! Hope no bad news comes next, lol everytime I blog I get a call... Its been like a roller coaster, up and down, Keeping my hopes up, btw, calling and being very nice, makes all the difference in the world.
