What a short lived high. I called Dr. Keshishian's office to find out about the delano weight loss group meeting, and she asks what my name is, I told her and she put me on hold, comes back to tell me, my insurance isnt accepted as of 1-1-09. Something to do with medi-cal and his program fee, medi-cal doesnt condone a fee on top of the contract. (which i had NO problem with paying) She said she would speak to Dr Keshishian tomorrow to see if he wont take anymore medi-cal patients. I sure hope he lets me be the exception, since I was trying to get this appt well before the 1st, but with the holidays it all got postponed. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I called Dr. Crookes, Cuz he takes medi-cal, but guess what as of this month, he no longer takes medi-cal. I don't know what I am going to do now, no doctor i know of takes medi-cal, and does the DS, when I called my doctors office she tells me I have the option of RNY. I don't want the RNY =(

Going to research more tomorrow. Hopefully something will come up.

Sandra from my doctor's office called today. She said blue cross approved the authorization for consultation to see Dr. Keshishian. OMG YAY YAY YAY!...
Now that part is out of the way and a little closer to my goal. I am so afraid of a let down, being denied is going to crush me, I am trying to not be so obessive about this, but I can't help it. And to top it off I am being so pessimistic, I think as a safeguard for if I am denied. Although if by some chance I do get denied I will appeal and not give up!
So, now that the papers are faxed over, I only need to wait for Dr. Keshishian's office to call me. More waiting, not knowing is what makes me bonkers lol
 

Well, I never got a call from the referral dept. So I called her, of course she wasn't available after they asked who was calling :p Sooo, I decided I would call my insurance company, and I found out a few things, mainly that if the surgery is medically necessary I will qualify.. Duh! And that my doctors office did send the papers over but not til the 30th, she said it would take around 5 days, and with the holidays, it is slowing everything down. So, I am hoping I will find out if I get the consult by next friday (1/9/09).
I don't remember being this excited about anything in years. I know it will be here before I know it, but damn the waiting game is like torture. And than I go and read people's profiles who have been waiting for years and getting denials right and left and I just wanna cry.
I think if I at least got the consult, I would feel like the ball was rolling, as it is as of now, I don't even know if they will allow me to see this praticular surgeon.
I need some news soon!

Well the referral lady called me this morning and she sent the paper off to blue cross to try to get me an authorization for consultation, Blue cross was closed for the holidays but she did fax my papers over, She will be back in the office next tuesday 12/30/08. She said she would call me as soon as she found out anything. Heres to hoping blue cross will authorize Dr. Keshishian! <3

Well,  I went to my doctor for the consult, and she said the referral dept would have to do that, but the lady who does it is only in the office twice a week. So, now I have to wait for her to get back to the office and get it, I called her this morning and she said she didnt have my file available, but she would be around tomorrow to try to get my consult to my insurance company. Hopefully the insurance will allow me to see him. Crossing fingers, toes and eyes :p

I have been researching all the different types of wls and I think the DS is the best for me. But I dont know if my insurance will cover it. I called the Dr. Parvez's office today to find out if they did the DS and was told no, his profile on here says he does but I guess its wrong.

So now I have to find another surgeon, I called around and researched and found one in Delano, Dr. Keshishian, I spoke to his receptionist and she said I need to get an authorization for consulation. I dont know if that is a good thing or bad, sounds bad, I sure hope my anthem blue cross medi-cal insurance will even let me go to him. I have an appt friday 12/19/08 to find out if I can get a consult for Dr. Kesishian. Wish me luck~~

I made my first plunge by asking my doctor to refer me to a gastric bypass surgeon. It took 3 weeks just to get my referral. But I got it last Thursday (12/11/08). My doctor had spoken to me 6 months ago about being referred but I was terrified, I finally started doing some research and ended up here. And shortly after is when I asked her to refer me. I have an appt. Jan. 8th with Zafar Parvez in Fresno. I am scared to death but also very excited.
