Stacy C.
Hello my name is Stacy; I am a 36 yr old single mom of two wonderful boys. I have struggled with my weight since I was in High School and it has only escalated from there. As most of us I have been on every diet imaginable. Weight Watchers (numerous times I should own stock in that company), Tops, Dr Atkins, Dr Phil….you name it I have tried it. I have even gone out and bought the exercise equipment, which I might add makes a great clothes rack. The only time that I have lost any significant amount of weight was during my pregnancies, as soon as the baby was born the weight came right back on. I feel that I have missed out on so much with my children because of my weight. I want be healthy, feel good and look good. I want to be a more active mom with my children. Here are some of the things that I want to be able to do with my children.
1. Run and play outside (without being winded or drenched with sweat)-Done
2. Swimming (without hiding behind shorts and t-shirt)-Done
3. Amusement park rides-Done
4. Water slides (without the fear of being stuck in the tube :-)
5. Take them on vacation and not have to share one of there plane seats with them.
6. Have a lap for them to sit on-Done
7. Have the energy to walk up the steps every night to tuck them in and kiss them good night-Done
8. Ride a bike-Done
9. Go sledding
10. And last but not least be a mom that they will be proud to say “hey this is my mom”
That is just a small list of the many things that I am missing as a parent to my children.
My journey began on April 21, 2006. I can not believe how fast this process went for me. I read profiles everyday of people who have had to fight and fight with there insurance companies. I had my consult on April 21st and scheduled my surgery on May 2nd for the 30th of May, just a little over a month ........ ........AMAZING. I was excited and nervous all in the same breath.
I had my surgery as scheduled on May 30, 2006. Everything went as planned with no complications. Everyone at Barix's was amazing, I was very pleased with the treatment that I received there. I did end up with one minor complication. I ended up with a stricture, I had that taken care of when I was about 7 weeks out. I believe the problem probably started at about 3 weeks but I just thought my pouch was being picky. So finally at 7 weeks when I was no longer able to comsume fluids of any kind I thought it might be a good idea to bring this to my DR's attetnion. I didnt want to be a pain.......now I will report anything that isnt normal right away.
Life is wonderful after weight loss surgery..................I am so glad that I made the choice.
