3/10-One week before surgery

Well, surgery in one week! There is so much to do this week (at work and at home) and not enough time in the day! Full liquid diet is going well. It hasn't been easy though. My preop was completed this past Friday. I have to check into St Vincent's Hospital on Monday, 3/17 at 1:30 pm for surgery that afternoon. Dr. Maier is also a trauma surgeon so I think I am in very good hands!

I seen the surgeon, Dr. Maier today and he has me scheduled for surgery on 3/17/08!!! YES!!! I was soooo nervous before my appt, but he put me at ease and went over the whole lap RNY procedure along with all the risks. I will begin my 2 week full liquid diet on 3/3 and my pre-op appt is scheduled on 3/7. I am full of emotions right now. Part of this is because I caught influenza B last week and have been real sick & not quite myself so I really had myself worked up for this surgical consult appt. I am glad that I am sick now and not later though!
Referral to a surgeon

1/31/08-I was notified today that the weight management clinic has referred me to a surgeon on 2/19/08!!! YEAH! I am very excited and nervous!! Last night at support group, we were visited by a nurse that specializes in hypnosis! It was an awesome meeting. She was very interesting! I hope to see her for some stress reduction/anxiety issues with work!
Update regarding future surgery

01/19/08-Hello all! On Wednesday, I received notice from Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield stating that GBS surgery is covered as long as I use a Preferred provider (We have Basic coverage). The surgeons in Billings, MT are Preferred providers! The next day, I received notice from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mt-State employees program that GBS surgery is not covered, which I knew before. The State BC/BS does cover GBS now, but you have to be on Traditional plan (I am on Blue Select) & there are some other criteria involved. I am still working on weight loss & will follow-up with Dr Baskett on 2/6/08. At that time, she will refer me to a surgeon!
