I made it to Onederland!!

Mar 03, 2010

Finally there! I made it to Onderland and oh what a feeling it is. I have to attribute part of that success to “The Wagon Train.” It really required me to be conscious of what I put in my mouth and it gave me a clearer understanding of the carbohydrate to protein ratio. I’ve been tracking what I eat but I had no idea about the combination of the foods and how to keep my blood sugar and etc. in balance. The Wagon Train really gave me that push that started my weight loss again. My weight has fluctuated up and down since my 1 year surgiversary. This is the first time I’ve seen significant weight loss in four months. In all, 10 lbs in two weeks. (5 that I gained before the train and 5 additional after where I started)!

I am so excited!

10 months and feeling good

Aug 14, 2009

Okay, yesterday marked 10 months for me and I am feeling pretty good.  I am down 133 lbs and wearing a comfortable 16 but still shooting for a size 14 by my 1 year surgiversary.  I'll be quite happy even if I don't make it, I'll keep shooting for it and hopefully it will arrive.  Anyway, I'm 12 lbs from my first goal which is weight of 210lbs (140lbs gone0.  My surgeons 1 year goal is 150 lbs gone and I have two months left so I feel comfortable that i will get close to his goal.

Now it's time to get myself back in gear.  I've been slacking with the exercise and tracking my food since I went on vacation last month.  I have my moments but I haven't been as dedicated as I should be.  My plan is to get it in gear this weekend and to focus and stay on track.

So, how are you doing?  I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Where am I?

May 19, 2009

As of today, I've lost 106 lbs.  I'm down from a 30/32 to a firm 18/20.  Depending on the brand, at the top I can sometimes squeeze into a 1X but I always buy a 2X.  At the bottom, it is typically a size 20 (if it is a quality brand) or a size 22 if it is a cheaper brand.  Of course, my top is shrinking a lot faster than my bottom.  Well today, I put on a size 18 skirt and I smiled from ear to ear.  I am finally beginning to see some progress!

I am in the gym at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes but I push for 4 times a week when I can.  I am getting in about 80 ounces of plain water and trying to get in about 900 calories a day.  It is extremely hard to get in my calories but I am doing the best I can.  Sometimes days I make it but most days I don't.  Other than that struggle, things are going well and I am excited with my progress over the past 7 months!

Two WOW moments!

Apr 23, 2009

Okay, I know this is going to sound crazy but I was overly joyed when it happened.

Last night I sat on my bed to watch a show.  While sitting there, I without thought, sat indian style.  My daughter came in my room and went WOW.  I was like wow what.  She said you can actually sit indian style.  That's the first time she's seen me sitting that way and she is 19 years old.  What a wonderful feeling!  Of course I then got up and said, I wonder if I can cross my legs.  So I sat in my computer chair and sure enough, I was able to cross my legs.

I may not be where I'd like to be right now, but it feels great to be where I am!

6 Month check up! Oh what a wonderful feeling!

Apr 13, 2009

I had my 6 month post-op visit this morning and I am so on cloud 9.  Everything went extremely well and I am well on my way to meeting my surgeons goal of 150 lbs the first year.  So far, I've lost 95 lbs and I am feeling great.  My blood pressure this morning was 104/76 so I am definitely excited about that too.  Whoo Hoo!  No more blood pressure meds!  Life is so wonderful and positive right now.  The only extra this morning was the fact that I need to do more exercise toning & weight training.  I've been telling myself that for a while and I've finally got to get it in gear!

Thanks OH for helping me on this wonderful journey!

6 months post-op & feeling great

Apr 12, 2009

Today marks my six month surgiversary and I am feeling great.  I am down  95 lbs and I am excited about what the next 6 months has in store.  As I look at pictures, I can tell I've changed some but it is a great feeling to get positive reactions from people who haven't seen me in a long time.

The hardest part for me right now is exercise.  I've got to get in more exercise on a consistent basis.  My goal for the next month is to start an actual routine and really focus on getting in at least an hour of exercise a day.

Thanks OH friends for helping me conquer my first 6 months of this journey!

What a way to start the day!

Mar 23, 2009

Okay, I am walking in to work today with a co-worker and out of the blue I get an awesome compliment.  Anyway, each day as we walk into work we pass by a nice family oriented barber salon.  Each day, this nice older gentleman waves to us through the window and says good day.  Well today, he comes out the door and says "you are slipping away.  you look great, you made me want to come out in the cold and say hello."  I thanked him and smiled from ear to ear.  My co-worker smirked and said now you get all of the attention.  I just laughed!!!

Whoo hoo, the weight loss is noticeable!!!!!!

Didn't Realize!

Mar 18, 2009

Okay, I am so behind.  I haven't posted on my profile in a quite a while.  Anyway, I am 5 months out down 88 lbs and feeling wonderful.  I hope within the next couple of months to hit my 100 lb mark.  I logged onto the site this morning and decided to see what my BMI was, don't ask why, just curious.  Well to my suprise, I am no longer EXTREMELY OBESE, I am now OBESE!  This may sound really crazy but that is so excited to me.  Yes, I know I am making progress but to see that I am getting closer to a healthy me is a wonderful feeling.  I am loving every minute of it.

My husband says I've found a new attitude.  I am so happy to be shopping in stores that sell clothes for all shapes and sizes.  Yes, I am still in plus size clothing but it feels good to be 6 sizes down at the top and 5 sizes down at the bottom.  May not sound like a lot but when you're a big boned, full-figured heavy weight like me, every size counts!

Dec 15, 2008

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to share my success thus far.

I had my two month post-op visit today and I came out of the office smiling from ear to ear.  I've lost a total of 50 lbs since my surgery!!! When I got off the scale, I was in another world.

On Saturday, I had my measurements taken at Curves again and I was excited to see that I am making progress.  I have to beef up my exercise routine for my below the waist area, but other than that, everything was awesome.

Chest/back area -6 inches
Waist/stomach area -8 inches
Arms-3 inches
Thighs-2 inches
Buttocks-2 inches

All I can say is, Thank You God for all that you have done and all you continue to do!

Talk to you later OH Family,
Deb
