Debnorrid
Hello friends-my journey began approximately March of 2006 when I attended my first WLS seminar. I am married to a wonderful man, have 3 phenomenal grown children, and 2 precious grandchildren. I am a Christian, an RN working in the the psych field at this time and my hobbies are anything crafty esp.quilting, sewing, knitting and cross-stitching. I have been overweight seriously for 35 years and morbidly obese for the last 20 years. I feel the need to do something drastic and WLS is that but it seems to be a Godsend for all the people that I have read about on ths website and in OH magazine as well as people I have met. Nothing else has been successful for me and I swear that I could own a WW building with all the dues I've paid over the years. I want to thank all those who have journaled and posted -reading all these helped me make up my mind to "Go for It". God bless all who have gone before me and all those who travel this way after me.
4-5-06 My PCP will write my referral letter tomorrow when I see him and I am scheduled to have my psych appt on 4-18. I will then have my dietician appt. on 5-8.
5-11-06 Found out that my surgeaon sent everything in to my insurance companyon 5-09.I am so excited that I may have an approval soon. If not, I will appeal one time. If they still say no after that I will probably back off this plan. I am a firm believer that God will put up roadblocks if He doesn't want that road traveled. I must say though that I feel very optimistic re: this surgery -so many people report that the only regret they have is that they didn't have it done sooner even if they did have any complications.
5-13-06Thanks so much to Tooter for helping this very illiterate computor user- I really do appreciate her help getting my profile going. I am trying to do some behavior modification now while I wait-it is a real challenge to me to chew food so well-I practically inhale food and then the practice of not drinking while I eat is very hard for me. I usually down a big glass of whatever during my meal. I am beginning to study labels for sugar, fats and protein. Again I want to thank all the people of the success stories that I've read-huge inspiration!!!
6-29-06 I haven't written for a while-I was so disheartened 2 weeks ago when my ins. declined based on the fact they want 6 months of supervised, documented diet regime first.I have been to 2 clinics in the last 4 years but don't believe I've had 6 consequetive months documented. So I will get started on that right away. I want to pray for my new friend, Karen, who is awaiting a surgery date .I love my OH magazine-it is full of great inspiration.
7-10-06 Last week I spoke with th RN of Future Health the company who does the reviews for my ins. co.-UHS.She let me know that I don't need 6 consecutive months but 6 months even if random, which I have. So, I faxed her the notes from these and also faxed them to Dr woodman's office so I should be hearing something exciting soon!! I am so thrilled!!!!
7-18-06 I'VE BEEN APPROVED!!!!!!!!-over the phone and haven't rec'd my official letter yet. My family is so excited for me. I thank God and praise Him for the chance to be normal again after so many years. This joy of anticipation is something akin to the joy I had each time I was newly PG before anyone else knew and I felt I had this wonderful, glorious secret that I would soon share with everyone. Oh thank You, Jesus!!!!!
