three years & 4months post op

I have re-dedicated myself to re-lose the weight I have gained since I reached my lowest point.  I actually lost down to 150 lbs but was told by all my family I was too low and looked gaunt.  I regained to 160 lbs and held there well until about a year ago when I began to challenge my dumping syndrome with raisins--I became acclimated to sugar and no longer dumped.  The sugar attacks  became more frequent and now I am up to 205. I hate that I took that natural deterrent away from myself.  I finally have my head andheart in the right place and I am back doing all the things that will get me losing again  ie. NO sugar, 70 gm of protein daily, 80 oz fluid, supplements, exercise. I am really curius to see if my system will revert back to the dumping after say a month on NO sugar inntake.  My goal is to reach 155-160 and get back into all my new clothes.  So here is to new starts.

Well,it has been 16 weeks since my surgery was done. In this past 4 months I have lost 70 pounds as of today. I regret that I have not added to my profile as I should have but I have been keeping a written journal in order to keep track of my loss and my feelings. It has been very helpful. As I read on the profiles that I read before my surgery, I have one regret--that is that I wish I had done this sooner!!! I have had a really great post-op time of it. I actually went back to work after 2 weeks-only half days 3 days per week but was back full time after another 2 weeks. My family has been so supportive and encouraging and it is really getting to the fun point because none of the 3 children remember me at this weight . They are 28,25 and 20 and they are literally seeing the new "old" me. I'll just mention a few things that I have made note of over the last 2-3 months. My loss has been great, I think, for someone my age(54). My husband says to me "I don't want you to lose any faster than you are" any time I lament about a plateau that has gone on for 2 weeks or so. I guess if I have a frustration at all it would be my pattern of loss. It is actually much as it was when I used to diet. I lose consistently then hit a plateau for 10 days or 2 weeks then I begin to lose again like a pound a day for 3-5 days then hit another plateau. Unlike dieting days though, I don't get discouraged and give up and cheat on something that sabotages my loss. Nowadays, I just do what I'm supposed to do and know that the scale will move again soon. I guess the thing I learned the most from other people's profiles was that once on a plateau, ijust continue to get the 70-80 Gms  of protein in, drink the 80 ounces of liquid and exercise daily or at least 5 days a week. If my body doesn't have one or more of these components the weight loss will slow down. My surgeon doesn't believe in "plateaus" but said that I was probably weighing myself too often or wasn't doing something right.I don't know but I do know that when I am on a "plateau" my weight loss or "fat loss" continues because I measure myself during these times and have inevitably lost more inches(total of 50 " now). I also like to make note of other little successes that I have had ie. can cross my legs easily now even under table tops, I've altered my slacks and shirts some of them for the 2nd and 3rd time now(I refuse to spend money on clothes until I can buy the size  intend to live in one day.  I just noticed that my  font changed and being the computer- illiterat that I am, I don't know why so forgive my ignorance.  There is a small group of us in Memphis that have started a small, more intimate support group in addition to the one our surgeon has once a month. We have been meeting about every 2 weeks in one of our homes and it has been so wonderful getting to know each other better. Well, I have tried to catch up my profile to current day so from now on I will try to stay on top of it. I am ever so grateful that my insurance came thru for me and that all has gone well for me.
God has truly blessed me. I have an appointment w/ my surgeon next Thursday and hope he will be OK w/ my loss because I know that I am. I am still having a little problem w/ meats that aren't ground ie. steak, chicken, roast but do well w/  ground beef, turkey.I use cheeses a lot and of course protein supplements. I pray for anyone contemplating this surgery, that all will be revealed to  you in a clear and precise way if this is the thing for you to do. As i said before, I only regret not doing this earlier-it has been a Godsend for me and I am so grateful.  More later!
