Happy New Year! 2005
Jan 05, 2005
This year is going to be a mixed blessing though. I know that I will be working my way down to my goal weight of 150, but I also have to contend with the fact that my mom has cancer. It's gonna be a year of ups & downs. I will be there for her, every step of the way. At least I will have more energy to care for her at a smaller weight than at 300 lbs. I just will have to find faith that she will beat this and live to see her Great Grandchildren.
Merry Christmas!

3 month Surgiversary
Dec 07, 2004
Well, Today is my 3 month anniversary. I've lost 61 pounds so far. I feel really good. Once I realized that I needed to take my antacids religiously or I would get yucky feeling, I've been doing really well. My gastric reflux is the one ailment that has not gone away. I no longer have High Blood pressure. My sugar is normal for the first time in 4 years. My knees and ankles no longer crack when I walk and best of all I can breath when I sleep at night. I can also clean my house in a couple of hours rather than a couple of days.
I can say that I can eat way more than I could a month ago, but I never eat past that just barely full feeling. I'm averaging 55-65 grams a protein, 600-750 calories and I try to stay under 50 g of carbs since I am carb-sensitive. My exercise could be better and I've asked for a gym membership for Christmas. I do walk away the pounds when the weather is crappy and have started jogging every other day. I never imagined myself jogging 3 months ago. A 240 pound woman jogging must be a site to see!
Here's what I'm eating at 3 months out on average:
B-Protein shake with at least 15-24 grams of protein
S-String cheese, a slice of turkey, a couple of wheat thins
L-Salad with protein rich foods like ham, egg, cheese
S-SF Jello or Pudding w/Whipped cream or cheese & meat rollup.
D-I try to eat 1-3 oz of meat or shrimp, some steamed veggies. I try to stay away from carbs after 5 pm.
I have really increased my water intake. I can drink almost 80 to 100 oz a day. After 5 pm, I try to drink nothing with caffeine and usually stick to plain water to flush out my system. Drinking PLAIN WATER is really the key to dropping pounds consistently. Not Fruit 2o or crystal light. Just plain ol' water. I used to hate water, now I'm learning to like it.
Remember every time you pee, out comes fat with it!
The first month was rough, I will not sugar coat it. But ( have not had any major complications (Knock on Wood!) and have only had minimal bouts of nausea. I'm so glad I had this surgery, it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I figured I was gaining an average of 8-10 lbs a year even when I was dieting. It was an uphill battle. This surgery is truly a blessing!
I lost a 8 year old...in Weight!

Doc Clark thinks my stomach pain and nausea is related to the gastric reflux. I need to stay on antacids at least for awhile. I sure hope he's right. Every evening I really feel like "Crud on a Stick". Eating sucks. It's not that I can't eat, it's that I hate eating, I hate food. I never thought I would ever hate food. It's just a chore. Bot they sure are right when they said after surgery that you eat to live, not live to eat.

What I'm Eating..and not eating
Nov 22, 2004
Typical day for me is:
16 oz of water/crystal light or tea
B- 2 pieces of string Cheese- 14 g protien plus 1-2 crackers
16 oz of water/crystal light or tea
S-SF Popsicle or Fudgesicle
L-Soup or Salad or a little of both
16 oz of water/crystal light/tea
S-Lunchmeat, cheese or piece of fruit
D-Small Salad, 1-2 oz of meat/fish, brown rice
16 of water/crystal light/tea
S-Yogurt or SF pudding or low-carb ice cream
If I don't get enough protein by the end of the day, I try to drink a shake or eat a protein bar before bed. I always try to get that 64 oz of water. Believe me dehydration is not a good thing.
I got a New Furbaby!
Nov 20, 2004
I finally dumped on something. A protein bar that has 8 grams of sugar. I guess 8 grams is way too much. It wasn't a full blown dump, but I was extremely sleepy yesterday and had to lay down. I felt kinda yucky too.
I also brought home a surprise from my trip. I now have a new furbaby. She is a 2 month old kitten and her name is Sugar. She really sweet and playful and I just love her. She is half Seal Point Siamese and Tabby. She looks more like a Lilac Point. Except she has white paws and a white dot on her nose. She also has blue eyes and they are just beautiful. She did really good on a 10 hour drive home.
