Stalled out, Yikes

Jan 15, 2005

I'm on stall with weight loss right now and I really just need the scale to give me a pound or two. I started working out and I'm sure that's why. My body is catching up to the strain I am putting it through. I going to Curves every other day and on my off day I walk at least 2 miles and do resistance training and sit-ups. I really want to make that -100 by March 1st and it's not gonna happen for me. So I'm shooting for -100 on April 1st instead. I'm doing all the right things, so I know that it will come off.

Here's what I'm eating at 4 months out

B-Soy Protein Shake or Protein Bar or Yogurt
S-Cheese & Crackers and a slice of lunchmeat
L-Salads with either Grilled Chicken or Ham & Egg.
S-Smoked Almonds
D-A Lean Meat with a veggie and complex carb like brown rice.
S-Yogurt or Baked Chips & Salsa

Carb Detox Diet

Jan 08, 2005

Instead of my usual progress report I'd thought that I would post my Carb Detox Diet. This is great if you have been snacking on too many of those Carb laden snacks. Over the holidays I tended to go for the carbs more than ever and I was really feeling rundown. I've done this detox twice already and it has workied wonders for me:

First Thing in the Morning:
16 Oz of Green Tea (Either Hot or iced w.Lemon)

Breakfast: 1/4 cup of eggbeaters with a Meat & Cheese made like an omelet. A side of A Slice of Tomato or Cottage cheese

16 Oz of Plain Water

A snack of String Cheese or a 2 pieces of Lunchmeat
16 Oz of Green Tea

Lunch: A Salad of Lettuce, Kidney Beans,Cheese,Bacon
Bits with Ranch or Blue Cheese
or a 3 oz of Chicken Salad with veggies on side
16 Oz of Plain Water

Snack: Yogurt or Cottage Cheese

Dinner: 3 oz A Lean Meat (Chick, Turkey) with 2 oz of Cooked Green Veggie (Spinach, Kale, Broccoli or green beans)

8 oz Green Tea, 8 oz of Water

I do this Diet for Three days and then I go back to eating and Drinking like I was before I carb overloaded. The One good Rule is You can Substitute any meal or snack with a Protein Shake.

It really Works. I consistently Loose 3-5 Pounds after doing this detox. The magic is in the green Tea.

Happy New Year! 2005

Jan 05, 2005

Happy New Year Everyone! And what a way to start to new year, I've lost over 70 lbs, feel better than I have since before I was pregnant. Probally better because I quit smoking 6 months ago. It's amazing how much my life has changed in these short months since surgery. I've gone from a size 26/3x to a 18 dress pant, 14/16 shirt, Size 16 Dress. 1/2 a shoe size too! I'm on my way down!
This year is going to be a mixed blessing though. I know that I will be working my way down to my goal weight of 150, but I also have to contend with the fact that my mom has cancer. It's gonna be a year of ups & downs. I will be there for her, every step of the way. At least I will have more energy to care for her at a smaller weight than at 300 lbs. I just will have to find faith that she will beat this and live to see her Great Grandchildren.

Merry Christmas!

Dec 25, 2004

Well,Christmas turned out to be a good day. I didn't overeat. But I did loose some weight in the past couple of days (I'm down 70 pounds as of today) . I think I needed to up my calories a bit. I got some nice presents this year and got to spend the day with the people I care most about. Hubby did good this year. He got me gold earrings, a gym membership, an electric throw and some nice slippers. Since I've lost so much weight, I'm cold all the time. So the blanket and slippers were well needed.

3 month Surgiversary

Dec 07, 2004

Well, Today is my 3 month anniversary. I've lost 61 pounds so far. I feel really good. Once I realized that I needed to take my antacids religiously or I would get yucky feeling, I've been doing really well. My gastric reflux is the one ailment that has not gone away. I no longer have High Blood pressure. My sugar is normal for the first time in 4 years. My knees and ankles no longer crack when I walk and best of all I can breath when I sleep at night. I can also clean my house in a couple of hours rather than a couple of days.

I can say that I can eat way more than I could a month ago, but I never eat past that just barely full feeling. I'm averaging 55-65 grams a protein, 600-750 calories and I try to stay under 50 g of carbs since I am carb-sensitive. My exercise could be better and I've asked for a gym membership for Christmas. I do walk away the pounds when the weather is crappy and have started jogging every other day. I never imagined myself jogging 3 months ago. A 240 pound woman jogging must be a site to see!

Here's what I'm eating at 3 months out on average:

B-Protein shake with at least 15-24 grams of protein
S-String cheese, a slice of turkey, a couple of wheat thins
L-Salad with protein rich foods like ham, egg, cheese
S-SF Jello or Pudding w/Whipped cream or cheese & meat rollup.
D-I try to eat 1-3 oz of meat or shrimp, some steamed veggies. I try to stay away from carbs after 5 pm.

I have really increased my water intake. I can drink almost 80 to 100 oz a day. After 5 pm, I try to drink nothing with caffeine and usually stick to plain water to flush out my system. Drinking PLAIN WATER is really the key to dropping pounds consistently. Not Fruit 2o or crystal light. Just plain ol' water. I used to hate water, now I'm learning to like it.
Remember every time you pee, out comes fat with it!

The first month was rough, I will not sugar coat it. But ( have not had any major complications (Knock on Wood!) and have only had minimal bouts of nausea. I'm so glad I had this surgery, it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I figured I was gaining an average of 8-10 lbs a year even when I was dieting. It was an uphill battle. This surgery is truly a blessing!

I lost a 8 year old...in Weight!

Dec 01, 2004

Today I had my 3 month appointment (It's actually 11 weeks. I've lost a total of 57 pounds. I wish it were more but both Dr.Clark and Tracey, the nutritionist think I am doing very well. I had my free consultation with the Tracey and she gave me an outline of what a typical day should be. I'm definitely not getting the variety or enough fiber. So on the way home I stopped at the Natural food store and bought 6 bags of soy crisps (On sale), some flax seed and soya granules to add more fiber/protein/fatty acid to my diet. The Flax seed is to help with hair loss and digestion. I'm definitely starting to loose my hair. Not much I can do about it so I cut 8 inches off. It looks cute and is way more easier to take care of. Long hair looks pretty but it's really a pain in the but to comb out and getting the snarls out of.

Doc Clark thinks my stomach pain and nausea is related to the gastric reflux. I need to stay on antacids at least for awhile. I sure hope he's right. Every evening I really feel like "Crud on a Stick". Eating sucks. It's not that I can't eat, it's that I hate eating, I hate food. I never thought I would ever hate food. It's just a chore. Bot they sure are right when they said after surgery that you eat to live, not live to eat.

Dump, De Dump dump dumpppppppp!

Nov 26, 2004

Well, Yesterday was a real bad day for me. One of the worse since surgery. It started out fine. I took Dylan to see the Spongebob Movie. I couldn't resist and I ate two handfuls of popcorn which two hours later I dumped hard. When I got home I laid down because I felt so bad. When I woke up I had abdominal pain that started getting worse. The pain felt more muscular than internal. It was on my right side of my incision. SO I took a percocet and though it took the edge off, the pain did not go away. SO I went to bed. I feel better today but still very sore. Well, I did the hernia test and yeppers, I got a small one. I think I really over did it on Thanksgiving. I jogged 2 miles and did some abdominal crunches. I also have been coughing alot from sinus drainage which has also giving me abdominal pain.

What I'm Eating..and not eating

Nov 22, 2004

I thought I would post what I am now eating at almost three months out.

Typical day for me is:
16 oz of water/crystal light or tea
B- 2 pieces of string Cheese- 14 g protien plus 1-2 crackers
16 oz of water/crystal light or tea
S-SF Popsicle or Fudgesicle
L-Soup or Salad or a little of both
16 oz of water/crystal light/tea
S-Lunchmeat, cheese or piece of fruit
D-Small Salad, 1-2 oz of meat/fish, brown rice
16 of water/crystal light/tea
S-Yogurt or SF pudding or low-carb ice cream

If I don't get enough protein by the end of the day, I try to drink a shake or eat a protein bar before bed. I always try to get that 64 oz of water. Believe me dehydration is not a good thing.

I got a New Furbaby!

Nov 20, 2004

Well, I got back late on Friday from my family reunion in Massachussetts. It wasn't a fun trip but at least I got to see my grandmother on her birthday. I lost 3 pounds this week bringing my total to -54 pounds. I didn't eat good while I was away and was sorely lacking on good exercise. I'm getting back in gear today. Doing liquids for today and at least 3 miles of walking. I really wanted to be at -60 at my next appointment, I don't think I'm gonna make it.

I finally dumped on something. A protein bar that has 8 grams of sugar. I guess 8 grams is way too much. It wasn't a full blown dump, but I was extremely sleepy yesterday and had to lay down. I felt kinda yucky too.

I also brought home a surprise from my trip. I now have a new furbaby. She is a 2 month old kitten and her name is Sugar. She really sweet and playful and I just love her. She is half Seal Point Siamese and Tabby. She looks more like a Lilac Point. Except she has white paws and a white dot on her nose. She also has blue eyes and they are just beautiful. She did really good on a 10 hour drive home.

Jane's Loose 10 Pounds Real Fast Plan

Nov 08, 2004

Well, I figured out a way to loose 10 pounds in 7 days. Get sick. Yep, I have the fall funk. A terrible head cold/coughing that has left me 10 pounds lighter. I was seriously worried about getting dehydrated that I went at least 2 days of nothing but liquids and then have slowly added some soft foods back today. It's not that I couldn't eat, it's because I couldn'r taste a dang thing. Well, at least I'll be down a total of 50 lbs by my 2 month anniversary, which is today.
