Hi Everyone. I wanted to give you my 3 1/2 month update.I have lost 45 lbs so far which is almost half of what I need to lose and am feeling good that the excess weight is gone. I am definately more mobile, but I find I still tire easily.I went to my PCP to have a checkup and he found that my Blood pressure still remains high, so he added another pill.I have a condition which causes BP spikes, called labile BP, and he told me that no matter how much weight I lose I will always have this problem. It could also be related to my long time panic disorder.I had my bloodwork drawn and am awaiting the results.Food wise I am doing well and able to tolerate most things without a problem.I have never thrown up..I don't have sugar and add small amounts of carbs to my diet with meals. I feel I am nutritionally balanced but the labs will tell the tale. my point to this post is to let some people know that even with losing weight, some of the co morbidities do not go away in some people.I am a prime example.I can't say I was not dissapointed when I had to be put on another BP pill. But I have to deal with it.It makes me very tired and is leading me to a bit of depression.I am losing alot of hair too.Trying to keep my spirits up. I have alot going on. I am moving to Las Vegas next month..So wish me luck, I am going to need it.Thank you everyone for being there for me and being supportive.God Bless

Hello everyone.I did not want you guys to think that I fell off the face of the earth.I read the message board when I can and when my energy level permits me to sit and type. Some of you may remember my ordeal on Jan 3rd,2002,my LAP RNY and the bleeding afterwards. My bloodcount is in normal range and I lost 28lbs quite rapidly. This made me very weak and tired. I am now about 5 weeks post op and starting to feel a little bit better everyday. My weight loss has stopped for a time, which is OK, because I know it will pick up again.I have many things to be thankful for..1.I am alive.2. I can eat just about anything and not get sick, I am still on puree for another 2 weeks.3.I have lost 28lbs forever that I would have never done on my own..4. I am getting stronger week by week.5. I am only on 1 Blood pressure pill now:, and my cholesterol is down from 362 to 256! 6 My bras are loose and no digging in underwires!! 7. I can bend over to tie my shoes without turning blue...8. I am greatful for the wonderful friends I made on this board and am so thankful for your care and loving support to me and my family during my time of need, and I will not forget that..ever..I will continue to update you on my progress, but I wanted to thank each and every one of you ..especially my NJ buddy Kathy Fierro, who also had surgery on January 22,2002. We met on here and have been communicating with each other through our surgeries and recoveries. Love to all waiting for approval, pre and post ops. We are truly lucky to have each other for support on this board.God All I can say is THANK YOU..You are all angels.God Bless<3

Hello everyone..First of all I would like to thank everyone for their support from this board, and the emails I received from my last post.I am now 3 weeks post op from my LAP RNY. I had bled quite a bit after the first surgery and they had to take me back the next day to find the bleeder, but I stopped on my own.I was given blood. I still have post op pain, but it is diminishing ever so slightly everyday.I am tolerating pureed food and liquids and am so greatful for that.I went to my internist and he ordered some labwork and I am waiting for the results.Of course I know I am anemic and I am taking iron. I hope my recovery keeps going in the right direction. I am still weak, tired and dizzy and pale, but I can honestly say it is getting a teensy bit better everyday. All you guys were right and I thank you for your encouragement:)God Bless all of you, my dear friends.

Hi Lucyann, Sounds like you have had a rough time of it and are just now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep up the good work and know that your extended family is here for you. God Bless You, Diane

I am now 2 weeks post op and wanted to thank everyone for all their well wishes to my surgery page, plus update you on what has gone on.For me this was a very serious surgery that could have ended my life. I had alot of post op bleeding and they could not stop it.I had to have 2 surgeries. The first one was on Jan3rd and the second was on the 4th. I was given 3 units of blood and I am still anemic. My hemoglobin is only in the low 8's.I am weak and extrememly tired, pale and have to rest most of the day.The surgeon said it will be months before I feel "normal"..whatever that is.I had the Lap procedure and I had alot of post op pain. I am still on percocet 2 weeks post op. Luckily I am able to handle my pureed diet to a point and I have not vomited. I do have bouts of frequent diarrhea that are not helped by imodium.I use all lactose free products.I am glad that I made it through the surgery so I am able to write to all of you.God bless all of you that are getting ready for surgery and those recovering. This is certainly not the easy way out as some would try to make it sound.

Lucyann, I'm sorry your recovery hasn't gone better. There's a cute poster I read once, with a kitty hanging on a rope. It said, "When you're at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!" Well, you hang on their, Kiddo, 'cause we are all behind you and before you know it this will all be a distant memory. Like the pain of childbirth. MUAH!!

Hi Lucyann! I'm so sorry you are having to go through such a rough recovery. I also had two surgeries and major blood loss requiring 7 units of blood. My recovery was much slower because of it but now, 8 months later, I feel fabulous. I know you will get there too! Take good care of yourself!

hi everyone..I am 8 days post op and unusually tired because of my excessive blood loss and having to have 2 surgeries due to bleeding. It is going to be a long time before I am good to go...I am also experiencing a flare up of my panick attacks which is requiring more xanax. This is because of the stress this surgery has placed on my nervous system. My psych says this is a normal response due to all I have been through.I am still amazed that I am alive today.:))))Angels do work and God is al around us. My kids are here with me and my fiance Gary is taking care of me. I actually showered today without help. One of my openings is leaking yellow oderless fluid. I go to see my surgeon monday.I know I have lost weight cuz I feel it,,but actually I don't care..I just want my strength back, and not be short of breath.Love to you all. and god bless<3

Greetings everyone. My mom has finally been moved to her own room. She said that ICU was like a prison. She can finally drink once every hour. I'm going to print out this page so she can read your nice comments. You're all so sweet! I'll keep you posted. <3 Theresa
