Geni, congrats on making this big step towards better health. An angel is a person that checks on you while you are in the hospital, gets others to sign your surgery page and just basically helps you with questions and support. Some angels are local so they can visit you in the hospital and others are long distance do they are "phone Angels". Best of wishes to you! KimmieTN

hello geni.. I am 6 months post op open RNY. I have lost 80 pounds so far. I used to be on 8 asthma drugs and 4 shots of insulin a day. I am off of all these things. I have sleep apnea, I am going to take another sleep study in April, my surgeon feels I can get off my CPAP machine as well.. I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have as a pre-op, my email is ramona@ktc.com I wish you the very best.. The best post op advice,,start deep breathing and deep coughing and wiggling your feet as soon as you physically able. That way you are protected from pneumonia and from thowing a clot to your lungs better known as a P.E. move those limbs while lying in bed.. take care,, Ramona~

Geni, best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery and a recovery thats as quick and painfree as possible. This is a quote from my grandmothers favorite book she gave me as a gift. "But if in your thought you must measure time into seasons, let each season encircle all the other seasons, and let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing" (Kahil Gibran)

Hi Geni, I had my surgery on January 10,'03 and I am doing fine now the first few days were hard for me. I know you will do great. I had a friend tell me about EAS protein drink, chocolate's best, to help keep you from loseing your hair. I had to mix it with skimmed milk and a drop or two of vanilla flavoring. Hope this helps.
