It's going to happen
Jan 28, 2010
February 1st is my day. It is finally going to happen. I have so many emotions going through me I don't even know where to start. I just hope and pray that there are no complications since I will be having my remnant stomach removed because of bleeding issues.

New Hope
Jun 13, 2009
As of Friday, I have new hope again. I have been diagnosed with systemic sclerosis; which includes something called GAVE or watermelon stomach. I have been receiving treatments from gastroenterology for it and I am praying they will give me to go ahead to have surgery. This has been such a battle for me. I keep preparing myself for something and everything always changes and throws me for a loop again. I sure do hope the doc gives the go ahead.

Really Frustrated
Feb 06, 2009
I am scheduled for surgery on monday the 9th. Got my confirmation for a 10:30 check in time so I thought I was ready to go. At 4 in the afternoon Dr Thirlby's intern called me up and said my iron and crit is not up to level and now I have to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Why they couldn't have said this 10 days ago when I was in for other tests I just don't know, but I am really unhappy now. I have looked forward to this day for a long time and now I just have to wait longer.

New Doctor New Clinic

I just got back the second set of lab work. My iron is a little better but the best news is that my A1C is down to 6.7 . It was 11 about 3 months ago. I was told I could not have surgery until it was at least 8 so I am very happy about my new number.
Finally Progress

I have been approved for RNY surgery since May 2008. Because I have Group Health Medicare, there has been a very long waiting period. I was given the chance to be referred out to another doctor; so I took it. I have a pre-op appointment on December 3, 2008. I hope my wait will soon be over.
