A little over one year since my surgery.

Sep 03, 2009

Well,  I don't post here often............my computer at home died and to be perfectly honest, I find navigating this website cumbersome.  I posted a message shortly after my surgery looking for some help and no one repsonded. Maybe it is because I don't use it often enough.  Anyway, my surgery date was July 25, 2008 and since I started the weight loss program, I have lost 110 lbs.  After a rough couple of months with complications from the surgery, it has been smooth sailing .

I am hoping to lose another 15 to 20 pounds although my friends and family think I have lost enough.  I guess it all depends how we feel about ourselves.  I look in the mirror after showering and I don't really see a significant loss.  I think it will take a while before I stop thinking of being overweight.  Even when clothes shopping, I tend to head straight for the Women's section before I realize I don't need to go there anymore.

For now, good luck to all who have taken the first step and to those thinking about the first step.

Still uncomfortable

Aug 05, 2008

It's been exactly one week since my surgery ( RN-Y) and I still am having physical discomfort.  Getting out of bed in the morning is tough.  I expected to have almost no discomfort by now but maybe I am expecting too much.  I am able to drink SF CIB's and water no problem so that's a good sign.  I went out yesterday for blood work and topick up a few items at the grocery store. By the time I got back home I was exhausted and very uncomfortable.  Lesson learned.  I have a hard time getting out of bed.  It is difficult and painful.  I hope it gets better before too long.

If anyone has insight to the length of time for pais to subside, I would love to hear from you.  Maybe I am expecting too  much too soon?
