Back home again!!
Oct 15, 2009
I am now back at home and doing o.k.. We got to the hospital yesterday morning at 6 am and I was taken back at 7 am to prep me for my surg. My first impression of the hospital was not the best but it seemed to get better. They started my IV, made me take a pregnancy test (funny), gave me a shot in the tummy and a patch behind my ear to help with nausea. The nurse gave me a gown and told me to strip down to my birthday suit . I was wondering if they were going to let me wear my panties but I guess not. I then met my anthologist and my doctor and was wheeled off to the OR.Once in the OR I had to move on to the operating table and I was out from then on. Next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room with a not so nice nurse. I was complaining my chest hurt and she just kept telling me that I just had surg and that is why. I then realized my sheets were wet (Ihave not wet my bed since I was a child) they placed a clean one under me some how. I wish someone would have video taped me because I think I was very whiny. They finally wheeled me to my room. My husband then joined me and I felt so much better.
A couple hours later I got my lunch which consisted of beef broth jello and crystal lite.Didn't eat much. I was very thirsty but had a hard time was not feeling like drinking. I was very loopy all day I would fall asleep mid sentence. I finally went for a walk in the halls around 3 pm. Dinner came and it was very similar to lunch. I walked the halls for a total of three times the day of my surg. My husband left around 7pm. It was much harder once he left. I would have to bug the nurse every time I needed to use the restroom. I finally asked the nurse to bring me the potty seat.Thank goodness I had my own room. I was given another dose of the Morphine and that just hit the spot to put me to bed.I then got woken up to a blood draw at 4 am. What a wonderful way to be woken up.My Dr came in to see me at 7 and told me everything went smooth. I guess I ended up having hiatal hernia that they repaired. I guess this is very common. He even took pictures of it. I told him he should have taken a pic of my new band friend. I am feeling fine but still have a lot of pressure on my chest from the hernia surg.
