Almost one year later
Feb 28, 2011
Wow where does the time go? I have not been on here for almost a year and let me tell you it has been a busy year. I have not had a fill since last March and I have continued to loose on average about 4 lbs a month. I am now at 166 lbs almost 100 lbs lighter! Let me tell you how fun bathing suit shopping was the other night being 90lbs lighter! I just wish I had a better idea day to day what I would be able to eat. What works one day does not the next. I have not been to the Dr for a year and I think it is almost time to start talking tummy tuck!!!

over fill

Yesterday was my apt and the good news was that I was down 10lbs in three weeks the bad news is it has been 3 weeks of hell. I had a horrible time eating almost anything. Dr Monash took out .25cc yesterday and wow I feel so much better! I was actually able to eat some dinner with the family last night. I am able to get into the dr at anytime I just was trying to tuff it out because I liked the weight loss. Now I have come down with a cold and I am sure it is from not eating right. Dr. Monash says I probably will not loose over the next 3 weeks but we will see.

Yeah!! 3rd fill
Feb 17, 2010
Well I am so excited because last Thurs on got my 3rd fill. I was much in need of a fill but didn't have time to get in between visits so I was up a pound last week. Dr. Monast checked my fill to make sure I didn't loose anything and sure enough he pulled out all 8 cc's that he had placed. He added another cc and I was still able to drink no problem then we decided to go for another 1/2 cc which put me at 9.5 cc's. Wow is all I have to say!!! I am basically back to a smooth diet and the scale is moving again. In five days I am down 10 lbs so we will have to see what the scale looks like on the 4th of March! So exciting and feeling great!

2nd fill
Jan 11, 2010
Well I am a little behind on this so I am going to have to update. On 12/3/09 I had my second fill (3cc's). That gives me atotal of 8 cc's I am sure feeling restriction. It is strange how you can eat one thing with no problems and then something else seems to feel stuck. This visist to Dr.Monash I lost 6 lbs since 11/12/ 09 which gives me a total WL according to them of 25 lbs. I thought it was more but I am going to follow there records from now on.

The scale is moving again!!

Yes I am so excited because the scale keeps moving down everytime I get on it! I hope this continues for a little while. I feel like I am eating well and probably could use a little more restriction. We will see as time goes on.

1st fill
Nov 16, 2009
My first fill was on Thurs Nov 12th. I made it! I was so nervous about that whole needle in the belly thing but it wasn't bad. Dr Monash put 4 cc's in for my first fill and then had me take a drink of water. All was good and he sent me on my way. I was down 5 lbs from my first visit which should have been more like 7 but for some reason I felt bloated that day. I didn't relize after a fill you go back to liquid diet that day and soft the next day,I will have to keep that in mind when making apts. I don't feel that much of a change but we will see over the next couple of weeks.

Almost one month post op
Nov 09, 2009
Well this week will be four weeks since my band was placed and it has been interesting. I feel everything is healing well and now that I am back to full diet the scale is not moving as much ; ( I get my first fill on Thurs the 12th and I am very excited to get this whole thing started! I felt I had restriction but Dr Monash felt the restriction I was feeling was from my hernia operation. I have to agree that swallowing has become easier since it has healed. I have had only to real bad instances that I felt like something was stuck and it went away quickly.I have not thrown up and really don't plan to. I will keep you posted after my fill.

One day at a time
Oct 19, 2009
Friday the 16th was horrible. I woke up to my 13 yr old daughter bringing me chicken broth and jello in bed and I just wanted to throw up. Of course I didn't show her that. I just decided I was not going to eat if that was all I could eat. I called Dr. Monash's office to let them know I was coughing and my phlem had some blood in it. I felt like I was going to make my band slip. They said the blood was from the trach when I was under and was normal. She suggested I try chicken noodle soup and strain the noodles and chicken off.She also said I could try some pudding. Let me tell you I could not wait for my husband to get home with that pudding.
Sat I felt better. I got to have my first shake and it was so yummy! I tried to just chill all day but managed to get some laundry done and folded. As long as I had some one move the basket. By sat night I was going crazy and decided to head off to Disney on Ice with the family. That was a little stressful w/ all the crowd. I was worried about someone bumping into me. Came home and took a Vicodin and was out. Overall sat was a good day because I had my shake for breakfast , yougurt for lunch and shake for dinner. I can't believe I am not that hungry.
Sun again I looked forward to my shakes. I have now made dinner for the family two nights in a row.

Back home again!!

I am now back at home and doing o.k.. We got to the hospital yesterday morning at 6 am and I was taken back at 7 am to prep me for my surg. My first impression of the hospital was not the best but it seemed to get better. They started my IV, made me take a pregnancy test (funny), gave me a shot in the tummy and a patch behind my ear to help with nausea. The nurse gave me a gown and told me to strip down to my birthday suit . I was wondering if they were going to let me wear my panties but I guess not. I then met my anthologist and my doctor and was wheeled off to the OR.
Once in the OR I had to move on to the operating table and I was out from then on. Next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room with a not so nice nurse. I was complaining my chest hurt and she just kept telling me that I just had surg and that is why. I then realized my sheets were wet (Ihave not wet my bed since I was a child) they placed a clean one under me some how. I wish someone would have video taped me because I think I was very whiny. They finally wheeled me to my room. My husband then joined me and I felt so much better.
A couple hours later I got my lunch which consisted of beef broth jello and crystal lite.Didn't eat much. I was very thirsty but had a hard time was not feeling like drinking. I was very loopy all day I would fall asleep mid sentence. I finally went for a walk in the halls around 3 pm. Dinner came and it was very similar to lunch. I walked the halls for a total of three times the day of my surg. My husband left around 7pm. It was much harder once he left. I would have to bug the nurse every time I needed to use the restroom. I finally asked the nurse to bring me the potty seat.Thank goodness I had my own room. I was given another dose of the Morphine and that just hit the spot to put me to bed.I then got woken up to a blood draw at 4 am. What a wonderful way to be woken up.My Dr came in to see me at 7 and told me everything went smooth. I guess I ended up having hiatal hernia that they repaired. I guess this is very common. He even took pictures of it. I told him he should have taken a pic of my new band friend. I am feeling fine but still have a lot of pressure on my chest from the hernia surg.

1 hour until no more food or water
Oct 13, 2009
Well it is 11:00 pm on october 13th and I can no longer it after 12:00 am. I guess I better get drinking my water. I went today for my pre op blood work and cheast xray. I am not looking forward to the hopital I will be doing my surg as it is not in the best part of town. Today was not exactly my dream diet of what would have been all my favorites. I started my morning off with some rasin toast, lunch was a soft taco at 4:00 only because I was in a rush to get bloodwork and didn't have time to eat until much later. Then for dinner we picked up a pizza. When I dropped my 5 yr old off at my friends house we had a 1/2 glass of wine. They didn't say anything about avoiding anything in general. On the way home we stopped for a icecream sundae from McD's and here I am. I am so excited yet so very scared. I will keep on posting so I can someday go back and read all this. Off to start the new me!!!!!!!!
