Well I better catch up with this. My name is Dean and my wife and I live SW of Annapolis, MD. I started gaining large amounts of weight 4 yrs ago. I thought that lack of exercise, more food and drink were rewards of senior life. Ya know, Golden years bull. Went on a diet plan up/down nothing stayed off. Gave up and started to pat my belly and become friends with it. After all, alot of guys in their 50's/60's were "filled out" kinda the grandpa look. I was going to grow a beard just to hide all the chins. Sizes kept creeping up. It was the tail wagging the dog. A family Xmas pic got me to the PCP
I looked super fat and I needed HELP. Labs were all over the place. BP high. Everything that could be head'n south was. He put me on furosmide, and levothyroxine - no good. Next trip was to Hopkins Bayview where I learned a new term, Morbid Obesity. The plan was in motion for an Oct 08 RNY surgery. Hopkins dropped the ball several times and lost paperwork etc. I finally got a date sometime first qtr 09' Wrong answer. Wrote to the President of Hopkins and he had the surgern drop me like a hot potato. Stated that I wanted a quick fix and in her opinon was not a good candidate for WLS. The letter came 10 days after I had talked with another surgern. Was on the table 11/18/09 and did not look back. The support and info I have gotten from this forum has been of great help. Just reading the questions and answers has gotten me over several hurdles and took some of loneliness away. Then I found the rant and rave forum and the sex forum. Hellof a past time after 10pm. I see alot of people have to much time on their hands.
