I guess that I was always taller then my classmates, but one day in junior high I realized that I was not only taller but more developed and then bigger then most. During high school I got up to a size 26/28. I been on every diet under the sun. I recall once getting sick at an after school band practice because I went on a water only diet. Well I learned the fast way that man cannot live on water alone. I do recall being very successful on several plans. The problem was success only lasted for a short amount of time. The most I lost was about 5 years ago at Weight Watchers. I lost 66lbs and vowed to never see the number 4 again in the hundreds place of my weight. my weight loss even inspired others. Well as I said earlier, it did not last for long. After about 2 years I had regained and was over my beginning weight watchers weight. I was devastated.

Fast forward several years. I never entertained the thought of WLS because my insurance specifically states that under NO circumstances will they cover WLS. Although it was dream, I never thought it would be reality. I guess BC BS of MS opened their eyes and believed all the reports that say MS is the fattest state in America and decided that for two years they would "randomly" select 100 people that submitted the proper paperwork for a trial period to determine if they would then cover WLS. So the journey began. I submitted paperwork, prayed, and talked to my doctors.  November 2009 I was notified as being one of the first 100 chosen. Thank God for Favor!!! One month before surgery I weighed 407 lbs and with  the assistance of a trainer and food choice changes my last weigh in before at the doc office I weighed 384. My surgery was April 5, 2009 (my mom's 65th birthday). I never was nervous, but always very excited and GRATEFUL for the opportunity.
