August 3, 2001 Hello to AMOS family, I am on the dreaded PLATEAU! I am stuck at 210 lbs. It's been 7 day's, since I've lost weight. I am trying to be patient but dang, I am trying so hard to get under 200 lbs. I am finally drinking 64 ounces of water and im working out 4-5 days a week but that scale will not budge! I still need to work on the protein intake. On a good note….Since joining Bally's I am really getting into working out. I took a spinning class last night boy! It was HARD….but I made it to the end, I had to burn atleast 400 calories because I was sweating like a pig. The step aerobic is going very well too, I finally caught on to the routine. I will be trying water aerobics this weekend. I went to Old Navy last night they have an EXCELLENT sale on summer clothes, if you are looking for cheap outfits, that is the place to go! I bought 5 tops for $14 and bought 2 pair of pants for $12…..Remember that the clothes run small. Lori 5/23/01 - RNY/OPEN -41lbs.

****Lori's Angel reporting**** I wasn't able to get up to see Lori Mathews as I had hoped to do today :o( but she called and told me some very good news: She passed her leak test, so now she can drink again! She said that she's being given a bit of water to drink every 15 minutes, and it takes 15 minutes for her to finish each little cup- so she's almost constantly drinking! She's been up walking today several times, and is being a good little patient and doing all she's told to do. Keep up the good work girl! Lori's Angel Rosalynd in WA

Lori, I am so glad to hear you came through your surgery so well. As your recovery progresses I will be looking forward to following your progress. I am still waiting for a surgery date so I am also a little bit envious. I will keep you in my prayers.

*****Angel on Duty***** I just talked to Lori Mathews, and she says she's TIRED! She sounded strong though, and said that she's not really even thirsty, so the I.V.'s are doing their thing. She has an epidural with morphine that she can self-administer as needed. She slept most of the day yesterday after leaving surgery, but did sit up for a couple of hours last night, and she said that she was shown how to get out of the bed in the least painful manner. The nursing staff was checking with her every hour for a while yesterday, then every two hours after that. Today it's every 3 hours, so she's getting a little more uninterupted sleep- LOL! She hasn't walked any as of yet, because there was no nurse to help her do so, but a nurse was supposed to be coming to help her get walking just a few minutes after my phone call. She is scheduled for a "leak-check" tomorrow (Friday) morning, and after that will be able to actually drink something! Tomorrow I will call to see if she is up to an angel visit, and if so I will try to get to see her, so if you haven't visited her surgery page and signed her card but want to do so, please do it before 9 am PDT Friday as I will be printing her card out to take with me to her hospital along with everyone's best wishes.
