I am 28 years old and currently live in Sacramento, ca. I have been overweight now for about 8 years since battling with polycysticovarian syndrome which makes is almost impossible to lose weight on my own (I have tried glucophage but even that did not help). My last resort was the lapband. Although I have what is considered a lower BMI prior to having this procedure, after watching my mother die from cancer when I was a teenager and now seeing my dad going through dialysis because of his adult onset diabetes, I have decided that my health is the most important thing to me. I understand the risks of being overweight and how losing even 10 lbs can lower your risk for heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. By having the lapband I feel I am taking control of my weight and preventing my chances of suffering from other health conditions in my future.
