After many years of trying to have weight loss surgery I finally had it thanks to Dr. Barba, I began my weight loss journey at 330lbs. . Much too much for my 5'4" frame. I have diabetes along with the some of the problems that go along with having diabetes such as, neuropathy, numbing and tingling of the feet and other extremities. A very painful condition. I also have retinopathy, a condition of the eye that makes the blood vessels in the back of the eye bleed  and can lead to blindness if not controlled
.
I did have the surgery on June 5Th 2010, it was quite frightening the months leading up to that time, but the day of, I was put at ease by the anesthesiologist and all I asked was not to even see the operating room...he was very obliging and I didn't remember anything after  kissing my hubby goodbye. Next  thing I remember was someone calling my name telling me it was all over and I did well.

I must say I'd heard many horror stories of the process of the weight loss journey after surgery and I thought that was what I was in store for. My recovery period was good. I slowly did what I was supposed to do, trying to exercise a little daily.

What I didn't say yet is I was in my early 60's when I began this journey. I am now 65 and have lost so far 100lbs. and I am still working at it.  It's wonderful to put on a piece of clothing that barely fit at one time and to not be able to wear it to go out in because it's too big!    Good excuse for shopping for new clothes.

I wish everyone who decides to take this route to a healthier you  has a recovery period as uneventful and pleasant  as I did.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL.....MaryAnn
