Sandy M.
5/2/06 I have battled obesity most of my life, up and down (more up than down), a yo-yo, that's me. Now with several health issues and most of my weight in my belly area. I researched WLS for well over a year. I attended the 4/08/06 at Gwinnett Civic Center. Listening to Dr Proctor speak helped make my decision. Feng Shui. balanced , at ease. Came home completed my info packet, confirmed it was covered with my BCBSGA, got my pcp referral and Fed Ex delivered it. Now I am waiting for a call for my next step. HERE WE GO!

Thought I would give an update, have had my psych evaluation, dietary consult, and sleep study. Everything is done except getting a copy of the sleep study results. Have called every other day, this has been the most frustrating. The staff at Doctor's Hosp sleep lab were great, but obtain the report from Doctor's Hospital is a different story. All I lack to send for insurance approval is those results.
Now I am shooting for late July or August. I have found several protein mixes that are good, given up caffiene, no more sodas, now I am working on chewing my food more and increasing exercise.
I'm excited and looking ahead.
06/22/06
FINALLY, got the sleep study today and it has been faxed, now they will send my packet in for insurance approval. I now have my rx for the cpap machine, look forward to a good nights sleep.

My packet went to insurance today, now I am nervous. Not of surgery but being denied.
06/27/06
Finally got my cpap and I look forward to a good nights sleep.

OK GOT THE CPAP WORKED OUT, First DME supplier was a joke, but I took that equipment and went to Southeastern Oxygen in Columbus, what a difference, what professionals. Now have had the new cpap with a full-face mask that fits, I am sleeping better and wake rested. THE EXCITING NEWS IS I HAVE A SURGERY DATE of Aug. 21, 2006, was given choice of 7/23, 7/26 or 8/21. I still have to get STD and FMLA in place, so I'm looking at 8/21. I at at ease now and excited looking forward.
07/10
Ok, date set 08/24/06, preop is 07/18/06, we are off and running now.
07/30
Went for preop 07/18 which was good, the staff were helpful, warm, caring and top-notch. Surgery was 07/24, I was calm, excited but nervous or scared, I was at peace. Surgery went good, no issues, woke up in my room, ice never felt so good. Was up and walking Monday afternoon, went home Tuesday evening. All is going well, very little pain, no dumping, lots of cream of chicken soup, sore in the upper belly with 6 small holes. Ate my scrambled egg today, should say ate half a medium egg. I can say that I have not "eatten" since last Saturday, and I am or have not been hungry. Follow up is scheduled for Tuesday, I am excited, looking forward

One week checkup, 9 pounds gone, given the green light to move on to light proteins, fish, chicken, cheeses, all is good, no serious issues.
08/15/06
Three weeks out and 21 pounds lighter, feeling good and not on any medications ( hypertension, diabetes etc), was on 7 medications daily. Have not had any health issues or dumping yet. Walking 10 minutes 3 to 4 times daily. Do good on routine for eating, vitamins, liquids. Have sat on a bucket and weeded a flower bed for the first time in 10+ years. Went to my primary Drs office for labs, have an appt with him 08/21, and my 6 wks post-op check up with Dr Proctor on 08/31
