Getting serious
Mar 01, 2010
I am resolved to get serious about my exercise habits, starting this minute! I have been so lazy, and that leads to being tired, and that leads to overeating, and that will eventually put me where I was a year ago. I am NOT going there.

First unfill
Feb 01, 2010
OK, last Monday I got a fill, and I was at 5.9cc. Swallowed water fine at the doc's office. Did full liquids for 2 days and felt immediately tighter. Thought, great, now we're talkin'! Then did 2 days mushies like yogurt and oatmeal and scrambled eggs. I was PBing EVERYTHING, even liquids and yogurt! Holy moly, I couldn't eat anything. My stomach was growling constantly, but almost no food would go through the band. I gave it a week, then went in today to my doc. She removed about 1/2 a cc, so I'm down to 5.5-ish, I think. Oh my, immediate difference. I drank a smoothie and a cup of tomato soup. It was heaven!
I now know what it means to be too tight, and how you can gain with a too-tight band. I was willing to eat ANYTHING that would just slide through so my hunger pains would stop. I basically lived on recees cups and protein shakes yesterday. Not fun. Still lost 2 lbs, but I felt awful. Now, I'm back to 2 days liquids, 2 days mishies, then solids. I'm SO looking forward to solids!!

Exercised!
Jan 05, 2010
I did my exercise video on Monday night, and yikes! Yesterday and this morning, my neck is killing me. Hurts to look to the left. Clearly, I strained a muscle doing my crunches incorrectly. Now I just want to lay down and do nothing! The pain!!!!!!!!

Resolutions
Jan 01, 2010
Happy New Year! I resolve to eat like a Bandster nearly all the time and lose 1/2 to 1 lb per week through the end of this year. That will not put me at goal yet, but I will be very close. My goal is about 59 lbs away. I resolve to step up my exercising starting right now!!! I resolve to read 1 additional book per month, which is currently 1 or 2 per month. I resolve to write in my food journal every day. I resolve to try 4 new recipes per month (2 main dishes, 1 side dish, and 1 other dish.) I resolve to conquer my food addition this year, and transfer my love for food with extra love for family and friends (I am on the road to this, but still have bad days.) I have more resolutions, but they are boring...these are my biggies!

3rd Fill
Dec 28, 2009
Had my third fill yesterday. Got 0.2 cc (for a total of 5.7 cc.) Haven't really felt much difference yet. I'm on liquids for days, then mushies for 2 days, then back to bandster regular diet. I'm ready to lose some serious weight!

Made it through Christmas
Dec 28, 2009
OK, I made it through Christmas without gaining! I was basically the same weight for 2 weeks straight, until this AM when I was 2 lbs down. Yes, down!!! I allowed myself to eat a few treats everyday, but not to excess. It was easy to say no with the band. Yesterday morning, I went through the house and threw away all junk food. So, it was healthy eating all the way! My kids were on board, they are all teenage girls and all want to keep their figures. The cookies and cake and stuff were all getting stale anyway, so goodbye empty calories, hello fiber and vitamins! New year and new goals.
Secret Santa
Dec 25, 2009
I did the Secret Santa thing this year with the OH Bandsters. It was great! My SS gave me a scrabooking kit, a coffee mug, a necklace/earring set, a keychain, and an inspirational little plaque that said "Faith" on it. All in beautiful shades of blue and green. I couldn't have chosen lovelier or more tasteful gifts.
My Secret Santa is the greatest!

Winter Wonderland
Dec 19, 2009
This weekend was a madhouse. First, Friday AM, one of my twins had (planned) knee surgery. She was born with a defect that had to be fixed. The doc had to do some unexpected bone work, so she's in major pain. One of the small incisions started bleeding through all the padding and ace bandage, so we had to go to Emergency Room on Friday nite. Ughhh! Hate that. She was in so much pain! But, it was just the swelling causing the stitches to pull and the incision to bleed a lot. Not serious, just annoying.
Then we got hammered with 2 feet of snow. Maryland (or at least this part of MD) is really not equipped to handle that kind of downfall. We have just so many plows here, and they're working round the clock, but my street hasn't been plowed once yet. But the blizzard was FUN! The kids probably won't have school tomorrow and I probably won't have to go to work! We're on our third shoveling of the driveway. Our pool cover collapsed, too. UGGHHH it's probably broken. Guess it'll just stay broken for a while!
And, we have 2 sick animals. A gerbil with probably cancer and a chincilla with a cold. You always worry about the furry little creatures when they are ill.
I made TONS of cookies yesterday. Lots of fun. The kids & I will decorate them today, and give them away this week...that's what we do.
Church was cancelled, good thing, don't think I could get there anyway. DOn't think I could get off my street, or maybe out of my driveway. We're gonna have a White Christmas!!! Whoo hoo.

Cookie Exchange
Dec 13, 2009
Had my very first Cookie Exchange. It was fabulous! I wasn't feeling well in the AM, but perked up by noon, and the exchange was at 2:00. LOVED IT! There were 18 or 20 different kinds of cookies, molasses cookies, ricotta cookies, pumpkin cookies, meringues, pistachio cookies, pecan sandies, mexican wedding cookies, fudge, the list goes on and on !!!!! This was definately a high point of my holidays.
The Cookie of the Year award went to the Meringues. There was actually a three-way tie for first place, and I picked out of a jar for the winner. The other 2 were Pistachio Thumbprint with Almond Paste Cookies and Peanut Butter S'Mores Bars. All three were fabulous and deserved to win.
Now, on to Christmas! :)

Doctor appt yesterday
Dec 07, 2009
OK, I went to my surgeon. First, they didn't have my appt in the books, and of course it's always the patient's fault. Then they said they would fit me in, but that if the doctor needed to put in a fill, I'd have to get pre-approval from my health insurance, and would ahve to come back in a week. I decided to come back and not see the doc at all yesterday. It seriously put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.
So, no fill yesterday. I'm doing OK restriction-wise, just thought I'd need a small fill. Maybe in a week or 2. My weight loss is going very slowly, but I'm OK with that.
