I am so discouraged but not beat yet! I received my denial letter yesterday. It stated "we regret that benefits are not available for bariatric surgery. Treatment of obesity is not covered under this employer's contract". My health plan is an administrator, so I emailed my HR and asked for the exact wording of the plan. I pray that morbid obesity is not listed on the plan! If thats the case I might just have Walter Lindstrom fight the denial and get it over with. Please say a prayer for me. I think its ridiculous that obesity is not considered a disease in most insurance plans!! I think we all (pre and post) need to come together and fight the "big insurance companies". The time is here and from what I read on the boards the insurance companies are becoming more and more difficult to get the surgery approved. Keeping the Faith. xoxox Debra

DEBRA~~ SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU WERE DENIED~~"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible to you." NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP

As some of you know I was denied today by predetermination!!! I am very upset at my insurance company! When I asked for the reasons, they said they were not entered into the system yet! I called my HR dept. to make sure that there is no exclusion on the plan and the told me no. So thanks to my insurance company I had to "out" my self to my company. I did not want anyone to know until I had a date. I called the insurance company three times to see if someone could help me but of course they wouldn't. I called a contact I had there the fourth time and she is looking into the matter for me. Please, I pray to God that this is resolved so I can prepare myself for joining the losing side. xoxox Debs

I sent in my pre-determination letter to my insurance company today!! My doctor wrote such a lousey letter I wrote one as well(it couldn't hurt could it?). Wish me luck. I am so scared that I am going to be denied after finally accepting that the time is here to take drastic measures.

Dear Debra, I truly understand. I quit a year ago after a 32 year habit of 2 packs a day. I know it is never easy but the surgery is worth it. I am still waiting for my consult but I know I will have one in October. Keep up the good work. You are in my prayers for success in quitting smoking and your surgery. ROSI

Just try your best not to think about the smokes. I quit in one day cold turkey about 4 months ago and it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I just gave my wishes to God and I have never looked back. You can try chewing on a carrot. Holding a pencil in your hand. Reading or doing things outside, do whatever it will take to keep your mind off of smoking. I have faith that you will do just fine with this. Best wishes to you as you continue on your journey.
