I spoke with Brenda at ALSA today. My insurance has approved me. Now, I just have to wait for the office to call me back and let me know when my surgery date will be. I'm so excited!!! 
I'm getting closer!

I went to ALSA's nutrition class yesterday. I'm glad I chose to attend that class rather than just going to any nutritionist. I think they did an excellent job addressing nutrition as it pertains to somebody having gastric bypass. 
Anyway, that was the last thing that I had to do. Now, it is just a matter of continuing to hound the doctor's office to get my paperwork faxed into ALSA so they can submit me. They said it will take at least 2 weeks to get the documents faxed over. They said that it shouldn't matter to me since I would have to go through a 6 month weight loss program. They were surprised to hear that I did NOT have to go through the 6 month program. I'm hoping that will get them to move a little faster than a snail.

Well, I met with Dr. Boone yesterday. He agreed that gastric bypass would be a very smart choice for me, considering the issues I have with my heart. He was very nice and very thorough. I am really excited about this journey.
I have to finish getting a few documents into their office and then I'll be ready for insurance submission. Dr. Boone said that I should be pretty easy to get approval on.
This is just so cool!

My husband and I attended the ALSA informational seminar this past Saturday in Fresno. I had already read most of the data presented, but I found their statistics interesting and reassuring. I was able to set up my consultation appointment today and have scheduled it for April 15! I have already set up appointments for the other tests and/or doctor visits they have listed on the checklist, so I think I'm on track. I'm really excited, but also really scared. 
I have never "blogged" before, but I figure this could be a very positive tool for me to use on my road to my "new" life.
