WOW, Three years out!!!!

May 18, 2007

Wow I can't believe it has been three years!!!! I even forgot my date, I remembered two days after it had passed!!! Well I'm plugging along, finished first year of Nursing school, three more to go for my BSN and two more for my doctorine!!! Can't wait for 5 more years!!! I am 3 years out and still running steady on my weight. I have really been thinking about having some skin removed, especially my stomach. The extra weight from the skin has been causing some issues with lower back pain (that and I dislocated my pelvis, don't ask it was "teenager" moment MAN I AM GETTING OLD!!) Anyway I am this far out and am beginning to realize that this surgery IS permanent!!! If I gain 5 lbs. I can take it off easily, I eat VERY healthy, nuts, fruits, grains, TONS of H20, but I eat what I want to eat IN MODERATION!!! I have to say that it really pisses me off when I hear people are depriving themselves of Carbs (appearently they are EVIL). NOT TRUE!!! After being in Nursing school and taking Chemical Nutrition and Physiology ( how the body works) I have discovered that you NEED CARBS!!! Every cell in your body MUST have glucose (carb) especially your brain, it makes sense to me now why there are times that I crave carbs, what I have learned is to eat the "good" carbs, wheat or grain breads, nuts, fuits, and veggies.  And when I crave that salt or chocolate I listen to my body and eat some, I have to say that many Doc's I work with and Nursing Professors are amazed that I have had this surgery. The usual comment is "WOW you look so great, I would never have guessed it!!!" And I must say that it feels good!!! 170lbs down and maintaining even though I'm doing it with Carbs, just goes to show ya YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!!!

Anyway enough of my soap box, just wanted to say HI, tell EVERYONE (from those out 5 years to those considering this surgery) keep working, this is a journey not a destination!!!!!
