I like most plus size women out there has struggled with my weight for my entire life. While I was a thin child I quickly packed the pounds on throughout puberty. I went from a thin third grader to a plus size fourth grader wearing women's size B-C cup bras. Since fourth grade my weight has skyrocketed out of control. I have tried every diet possible and was very successfully with Weight Watchers. I ended up loosing 65 lbs on WW and kept it off for about a year. When I married my husband in July of '06 I was a size 18. But with the stress of teaching, bills, and reality in general I gained my weight back. We just celebrated our first year of marriage together with me at a size 26-28. I gained 100 lbs in our first year of marriage! I knew that something had to be done. If I ever wanted a healthy life or a future healthy pregnancy I would have to lose a lot of weight. I went for a breast reduction in April of this year ('07) hoping that if I eliminated the reason for my back pain that I could loose more weight through exercise. I soon found out (after the embarrassing naked pictures at the doctor's office of my breasts) that in order to have a breast reduction I would have to loose 115 lbs! The doctor then suggested Gastric Bypass surgery. Although I had always thought of weight loss surgery as a final option reality kicked in and I realized that something had to be done for my health....for ME! I researched many hospitals and doctors and decided on Dr. Sonnanstine at St. Luke West in Florence, KY. After three months of the program I have finally set my surgery date for August 20th. Unfortunately, as a teacher this date falls on the first day of school! I will have to miss the first week of school but I will hopefully come back more energetic and optimistic about the future. Please keep me in your prayers for a safe and healthy surgery!
