Well, it has been a rocky month. I have had to change surgeons and had difficulty getting the patient advocate to submit my records to the insurance. But finally on July 29th my records finally made it to BCBS. And it only took one day to approve my surgery! I truly believe that was the hand of GOD! My experience is kinda of backwards. I had a surgery date before I had insurance approval. I haven't even met my new surgeon or gone to the seminar yet. Doing that in 2 days. However, it is all coming together somehow. I am just glad to finally be getting down to it. My surgery is in 11 days. I am nervous, but I am also ready. Ready to make the changes I need to live a healthy and active lifestyle, and I am confident that surgery will give me the tool I need to be successful. I saw my surgeons on TV last night on Big Medicine. I am looking forward to meeting them in person.

July 7th is the last day of my mandatory 3 month doctor supervised diet. I initially lost 8lbs for my first weigh-in last month. I have my second weigh-in next week and I don't think I will have lost anymore weight. I am trying to maintain my weight. I want to make sure that I do not go below the insurance requirement. I still have to do two weeks of liquid diet prior to surgery. I am no longer antsy and I have settled into a comfortable level of anticipation.  I will have my surgery date soon enough and get to join the losers bench. In the meantime, I continue to exercise and sample protein shakes.

I met with the surgeon today and got all my questioned answered. My estimated date for surgery is end of July or beginning August. I also had my psychological evaluation today so I am moving right along with my insurance requirements. I am ready to play the waiting game now.   Good news, lost 8 lbs since last month!

I am scheduled to meet with my surgeon on May 12, 2010. I have also scheduled a psychological evaluation for the same day. I have been busy preparing my questions to ask. I am hoping that once I meet with the surgeon things will get moving and I will get a surgery date. I am hoping for July since school will be out and I can vacation in June and recover in August before school starts again.
