Dr. H's hospital (Bothwell) won't take UHC so finding another route to go for surgery. Checking on Dr. K. in Lenexa, Ks.

Got my insurance card in the mail Saturday. I am faxing a copy of it and other info. to Dena at Dr. Hornbostel's office this evening so she will have it first thing in the morning. Please pray this works for me. DH insurance didn't change at work. I knew his boss was too much of a tightwad to get better benefits.

I decided to update a little. My seasonal job has UHC insurance and I may sign up for it.

I got called back to work at my job that I was laid off from in May 2005. I am hoping and praying that their insurance will cover this surgery because they will allow their seasonal employees to sign up for their insurance. Please keep me in your prayers. If I don't get this surgery, I will be living the rest of my life in pain and being unhealthy. I have three children that I want to enjoy doing things with. I want to get out in my driveway and play basketball with my kids, I want to run and play with them. PLEASE GOD, LET ME GET THIS SURGERY!!!!!!

My husband and I went for a walk and I thought I was going to die. he is trying real hard to help me lose some of my weight but I have tried it all before. I know I need this surgery or I will DIE being fat and completely unhealthy.

Haven't heard anything else from my husband's boss. Gonna do whatever it takes to have this surgery. I cannot live with the back and knee pain anymore. I cry everday because I hurt so bad when I just try to do little things like cook supper. I can't stand to suffer through this pain anymore. Some days I just want to die instead of going on this way. My lower back hurts so BAD...If you read my profile, PLEASE pray for me. PRAY that I will get this surgery so that I can bare to do things with my family.

Today I left a note for my husband's boss asking him to consider changing insurance during open enrollment in January. I asked him to consider another plan through BC/BS because they do have some plans that pay. I told him that my husband and I would be willing to pay the premium if we have to. Right now, since my husband works in the office, the company pays the premium. Everyone that works there complains about the health benefits. I think it would be better for the company if they get better benefits. Well, this may not help me out but I figured I might as well try this first. I don't qualify for Medicaid and probably not for Medicare neither so I just have to try to do what ever I can to get this done

Well, got the dreaded letter from Dr. Hornbostel's office. My husband's employer told us one thing and them another. The exclusion will not be removed and I will have to find other ways of paying for the surgery. BC/BS has to be the worst insurance there is. I will be looking for a job with insurance that will pay for this surgery or looking for a policy from an agent to cover just me and get this done.

Well, about to lose hope. Heard from Dena at Hornbostel's office. She says she has never gotten BCBS to cover this surgery if they have this exclusion. She says she will call them but doesn't think it will be approved even if I can prove medical neccessity. My husband's work says just send the doctor's records and prove medical necessity, then appeal. Hoping it doesn't come to that.

Heard from PCP's office. My thyroid is OK, my cholesterol is OK but my body is producing too much insulin. They put me on medicine for that. Dr. Hornbostel's office did receive my paperwork and just said they would let me know when they find something out. This waiting is driving me nuts. I went to the group consultation the same night as a friend of mine and she already has her consultation set with the Dr. I know mine may be taking more time due to them making sure they exclusion has been waived. Something has got to happen soon.
