Okay... It has been kind of a long journey to get to my sugery date. About 2 1/2 years ago, I was referred to a seminar, I attended and I learned a lot. I learned that about co-morbidities, and what my insurance required. At that time, I didn't have any of the co-morbidities..well, that I knew of. I visited that doctor, who had initially referred me, and we talked about my health problems, and decided to do a sleep study, and found out I had sleep apnea. At the time, I still didn't qualify. So over the past 2 years, I had tried to lose weight, doing it on my own, and I would loose, and I would gain it all back, and I tell you, it's discouraging, when I stop drinking pop, and I don't even lose weight! In September of '08, I contacted the surgery center again. I wanted to find out, how much it would cost out of pocket. Nothing had been working for me, and I very much needed help. I told the Insurance specialist, that I was going to have different insurance starting in November and she was happy to know that, because it would help, and I found out that I have GERD, which made me qualify! So began my journey. I have done my dietician and exercise programs, and doctor visits, and here I am, ready to go March 10, 2009. I am excited. I have a 5 year old son, and I've wanted to be able to run and play with him. He always says "Mom! Come on! Run!" and I can't wait to be able to say "OK!"
