Here's an update from Vicky's husband.........Vicky is on less Morphine - 4 mg/hr and the respirator is assisting very little. She is still in a lot of pain, but she is managing the pain better. We try not to communicate too much and she has been able to write on paper. She asks about her boys quite a bit. Today was her brother Michael's birthday, all he wished for was for her to be well, I'm sure of it! Vicky is still in ICU and I am sorry for asking individuals to go see her, because they have turned them away, only family at this time is allowed (sorry). Daily I share your postings and she knows that everyone is rooting for her and wishing her well. Her eyes are a bit yellow and I will ask Dr. Coates what would cause that. The nurse informed me that Dr. Coates noticed it as well and has ordered tests to find that out. I don't want to say that she is ready to leave ICU any time soon, but I can let everyone know that she is no longer talking about wanting to be with her mom. Her mom passed a few years ago and through communication with her brother, she was saying that Mom was calling her to be with her. That she wanted to go with mom! I know that a lot of this has to do with the pain medication and that she probably won't recall any of this, but it was very scary to hear her talking about giving up. She did not mention any of that today, she said she wanted to get up and stand on her own. I asked her if she thought she was strong enough to stand, she rolled her eyes giving me that look, like "Why do you think I would ask, if I didn't think I could" kind of a look. Today I finally got to give her a kiss, the tube was positioned to the side of her mouth, but she still managed to somehow pucker up! Progress, steady, slow, but on her way, inch by inch. I am sure she is thanking all of you for the support you have provided us. I wish you all well, God bless you, I'm hoping I have her home by Christmas, that, would be all we wish and want for Christmas, to have mom back home. Alfredo Mendoza
