So, like many people here, I've tried pretty much every diet out there. I even did a liquid diet for a full year and lost 140 lbs. As soon as I got off that diet though, all of my weight came back plus some. That was in 2002. I've since had a lot of medical problems including hypothyroidism, a couple of heart problems, and 2 herniated discs. I had surgery for one of my heart conditions in December 2006. I've had two children, both by c-section and gained quite a bit of weight with both children. After all of this, I ended up weighing 349 lbs. I've never been this heavy, and I've never looked and felt this horrible about myself.

I had never thought of weight loss surgery as an option. I always thought that I was strong enough to do it myself. I guess I figured if I got myself into this mess I could get myself out. But, I never did. So I decided to start looking into weight loss surgery about 6 months ago.

I researched all kinds of surgeries, and lots of surgeons. I went to support groups, nutrition classes, and finally decided to go ahead and try to have the surgery after finding Dr. Nicole Basa, who is wonderful. I had to go through so many doctors to get approval because of the many medical conditions I have, but I finally did, and after everything was submitted I had to just wait and hope that my insurance would approve me.

About a month after everything was submitted, I found out that I was approved for the Gastric Bypass. I was sooooo excited!!! Also, this whole time I was trying to lose 5% of my weight, which is required by my surgeon in order to have the surgery. So I started out at 349 and I am currently at 333. I need 1 more pound.

I have been working out twice a day and eating very healthy trying to lose that last pound since I'm having surgery next Tuesday! Only 5 more days!!! On Sunday I will be on a clear liquid diet for two days, so I figure that all of this working out, healthy eating, and clear liquids will help me lose that last pound... Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Anyways, I've read so many amazing stories on here, and I am soooo proud of so many people that have gone through this and have been successful with it, that I figured I would share my story. I am going to try to update my profile fairly often once I have surgery, so I will keep you updated!
