Stage V
Jul 12, 2009
So it's been a while and I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to get back on here and update my blog. I'm feeling great! I am at my lifelong stage and am trying to eat as healthy as possible. I've experienced the "dumping" once and will do my best from now on to avoid getting myself into that type of situation. I go to the gym at least 5 days a week because I don't want to have too many problems 'toning' my body. I've lost a total of 64 lbs so far so I am loving life right now!!!

Stage 2
May 10, 2009
I was really excited to start Stage 2, but am now tired of all of the cream soups and milk, yogurt, etc. Otherwise, I am doing well. Exercising every day by walking, at least for now until I'm a little more healed. I can't believe how much weight I've lost in such a short period of time. I see the number, but I still don't feel it.
My next appointment with Dr. Basa is on June 1st, so we will see how everything is going by then. I'll post again soon when I have any news to share.

Stage 1
Apr 27, 2009
So I'm on Day 6 of my 14 day liquid diet, and I'm having a really hard time. I'm sure this is normal, but only having liquids is really hard on me right now. It's not that I'm hungry because I feel completely full. I'm taking all of my vitamins, protein, water as I'm supposed to. It's just not having something to chew. I don't know how else to explain it. I'm starting to lose weight, which is what keeps me going. That and I have no choice because I already committed to this life change.
I know this is only for 8 more days and I move on to Stage 2, which will tremendously better than this...lol.
Other than that, I feel great. I healed a lot quicker than I expected. I'm still healing, but I'm not in pain, and I haven't been on pain meds since the day after I came home from the hospital.
I've been walking, taking care of the kids, and am able to go up and down my stairs without a problem. So far, so good.
I have an appointment with Dr. Basa on Friday, will update then.

Day after Surgery
Apr 21, 2009
So I came into the hospital yesterday at 5:30 am. I started my journey at 349. At my weigh in before surgery I was at 324! Everything went really well. Dr. Basa is absolutely wonderful. She was successful in doing my gastric bypass (RNY). I pretty much slept all day after surgery, other than when I had to get up to walk. The pain hasn't been too bad, and I've been able to get up on my own. This morning I was woken up at 5:25 am for some blood work. I love the people at this hospital. Everyone has been completely and truly wonderful to me, and I really appreciate them for that. I am still doing really well on the pain scale. I'd say I'm a 3 out of 10 right now. I will keep this updated. I am going to get up and brush my teeth. The only down has been that I was unable to eat or drink anything for the first 24 hours. I'm looking forward to having a drink this morning. Will keep updating on here as much as possible. Thanks for the supportive comments!
