Happy Thanksgiving!!
Nov 25, 2008
Happy Thanksgiving!! Well this year will a different holiday that's for sure. Instead of stuffing my face and being miserable for hours after dinner, I will be enjoying my meal and thank God for the many blessings He has given me, including my 109lb weight lose! I am such a blessed person! My stall finally broke and I'm on the losing track again. School has been busy and the gym trips have not been as steady as I would like, but over the Thanksgiving vacation we will do better. Our Fall celebration, "The Turkey Trot", at school was a huge success and I'm glad I organized it. We gave away 30 Turkey dinners for folks who couldn't afford it, plus lots of coupons for free fast food, skating, hotel stays etc. It was a good thing, and I have to admit I'm also glad it's over!! It was alot of work!
We are having all the kids over for Thanksgiving dinner and hopefully a peaceful weekend. We will decorate for Christmas, buts that's about all.
On the weight lose, I have noticed a couple of things! One, my range (voice wise) is better, I'm hitting notes even during school that I haven't been able to in a long time. Also, I haven't lost my voice once, even with all the singing I do at school. This is a big answer to prayer. Secondly, I'm not falling in bed at 9:00 anymore. I can come home and do things like never before. I used to get home and colapse on the couch, now I can go to the gym, or clean house and not feel like I'm dying. I also used to take stair one at a time for the most part, I caught myself skipping down the stairs at school, I guess I really hadn't noticed until now how limited I really was until I have started doing things like that.
I sang at church on Sunday, and I had people who have known me for sometime walk by and when I spoke to them they did the double take and say, "I didn't even recognize you." That's kinda fun!
Well, I hope everyone has a truly blessed Thanksgivng and count your blessing, GOD IS GOOD!!!!
Love to all,
Vickyruth

Just plain thankful!
Nov 09, 2008
November 9th (Julie's Birthday)
I'm sitting here thinking about the fact that the scale has not moved in 3 weeks! Yes, a stall. But you know, I am truly thankful for my RNY, how I feel, I've lost 102lbs, and God is still on the throne!! Putting things into perspective is the key here and I know that the scale will move again when my body gets done rearranging itself, AGAIN!! things have changed so much in the last 5 months and it still amazes me at times. I'm really looking forward to the holidays and even with cooking! Sugar free is the key and it will be fun to adapt recipes as we go along. Hope this finds everyone happy and blessed.

101lbs as of this morning!
Oct 16, 2008
Just a quick note to mark this milestone! Got on the scale this morning and it said 274.3 so that puts me over the top, 101lbs lost from my highest weight. 85 more to go!
My hair is gone!!!! 10/12/08
Oct 12, 2008
Well, my hair has been falling out like crazy, so I thought I'd just help it along and cut it OFF! Yes, I cut it and it's short! My hair has not been this short for 20 years or more. Growing up my hair was always short, and after college I got called, "Sir" to many times so I grew it out. For the last couple of weeks I have been cleaning the brush out almost daily and it was driving me crazy, and hair on all my cloths, so I went to the beauty shop and said, "DO IT" I've got to say it's cute and I look 10 years younger, maybe more. I will get new pictures in soon.
Everything else is good, and I'm 97lbs lighter! 80lbs since surgery. I also went shopping yesterday and I'm in a size 20 pair of pants. But, I got to say, I am also wearing 22's and 24's depending on the brand. It's amazing though, I still look at myself in the mirror and think, "WOW is that really me"
Still going to the gym, at least 2 times a week, but try for 3-4. School is going fast and for the most part is good.
Can't wait for you to see the pictures!! Blessings to all,
Vickyruth

Where did September go?
Sep 24, 2008
It seems like I say this every time..........it's September 24th OMGOSH!!! Time has flown by and it's so hard to believe we are at the end of September with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Today, I'm on my 7th day of 286lbs. I think this is what we call a stall. I can't complain though, I've heard stories of 3 month stalls. So I'm thanking God my stall is OVER!!!! School is going pretty well for the most part, and I'm slowly conquering my bad eating habits at school.
I'm still in need of cloths and shoes, but it's still in the 70's and 80's here with chilly mornings, so I'm waiting as long as I can. My size 22 Capri's are much looser now and I'll try to buy 20's when I do go shopping. I did buy 2 comfy sweatshirts at the craft fair two weeks ago that I've never been able to fit in before now. That was fun!
I do need to get the pictures put on here, sorry... computer blow up and we are still getting things together on our new one. Patience is a virtue, don't forget (Cathie :o) so it will come.
The gym is coming along and I feel like I'm making progress. My goal of 5 times a week with school has been somewhat of a joke, but most weeks I make it three.(this week is 2, but maybe I'll make it up on Sunday)
I still get shocked looks from people I haven't seen for a while, it's kinda fun. It's almost funny, though when they fall all over themselves trying to figure out either what to say or how to say it. My chiropractor said I'd have to get adjusted more often do to my body changing so quickly, which I believe because my back and hips are starting to scream at me and it's only been a month since I've been.
I'm still very thankful for all the (good) problems and how my life will be changed forever as I go down this road. Well blessings to all...........all for now,
Vickyruth

Under 300
Sep 05, 2008
September 5th! It's been 3 months since surgery, can't hardly believe it. I hit a mile stone last week and went under 300lbs. I don't even know how long it's been since I've seen under 300lbs, but it's been a LONG time. I'm running out of things to wear and if I have to dress up, I'm in trouble. My shoe size has changed and I have no dress shoes. I did buy a pair of nice black dress pants on major sale last weekend, so that's a start. Size 22!! I do have a 3 month picture ready to show everyone, but I'm having computer troubles. So, hang on to your hat for alittle while longer! School is going good, and Julie and I joined Gold's Gym last weekend. They have a pool Yippee! and it's not chlorine, but saline........really strange but nice to be able to swim. Worked out with a trainer yesterday and I'll be able to go at least 3 times a week, but I'm shooting for 5. Hope this finds everyone blessed!

First week of school!
Aug 20, 2008
It's August 20th! Where has this month gone.......I'm feeling much better and I was back to school on the 18th! I've been playing catch-up all week and it will probably take the next 2 weeks to make up for being sick. But, things are going pretty well for the most part. The kids at school, mostly my 8th grade band kids, said," Miss, Miss you've shrunk, what did you do??" I told them the truth if they really wanted to know and Fernanda said," So by Christmas will you just like, blow away?" We all laughed, but that was fun.
Weight wise with being sick I haven't gotten back to exercising so I haven't lost anything in a week. I haven't gained either, but.......... I'm going to the gym tonight and I'll walk during my lunch time too, so hopefully things will get going again.
I've had to rearrange things alittle since school has started, and getting all my water in has been a problem. Plus it's been cold here and rainy so wanting to drink as been an issue too.
I have noticed I'm not as tired during school, walking kids back and forth and it's not as stressful either. That's good!!! I did get sick on lunch the first day, old habits (eating too fast) die hard, so I need to work on that. I know no one said this was going to be easy, but it's amazing how many old habits need to be dealt with. I guess I didn't realize how much we are creatures of habit!
I'm looking forward to the balloon festival on Labor Day weekend and my 3 month picture!!!
Love to all,
VickyRuth

The good and the not so good!
Aug 12, 2008
Well, which do you want first? The good or the bad............
The good...............
I am under 300lbs. as of this morning 299.8! Under is under, I that's all there is to it.
The bad..................
If you read my last blog, I told you about a head cold, well it was more like pneumonia. Yes, on Thursday I felt yucky but still went to my teacher meeting and Friday was much of the same and I went to my trainer appt. and after that I felt awful. Tried to get into my Dr. on a Friday late afternoon, yeah right! So I went in the next day on Saturday so they could fit me in. I ended up going to urgent care which is in the same office as my Dr. and blood work and a chest x-ray later.........yup, pneumonia. To make a long story short, it's now August12th and my school starts tomorrow and I won't be there, my Dr. said she would see me Friday and we would discuss when I would be going back to school. I'm on oxygen and have had 4 shots of antibiotics for good measure. Some great friends came in today to help me with my rooms at school and they look great and I have my x-principal subbing for me for the next 3 days so I guess if it had to happen like this I'm well covered.
So there's the good and the not so good..........what do you do..............

Just might make my mini goal!
Aug 05, 2008
Well today got on the scale and it read 305lbs.
In the back of my mind a couple of weeks ago, I thought,"Wouldn't it be cool to be under 300lbs. before school starts."
Well, teachers start tomorrow, but I have a week before the kids come, so maybe, just maybe! Went to Santa's workshop yesterday with the fam and it was fun, good exercise for sure, major walking with huge hills. I had forgotten how many hills. Caught a summer head cold, yuk! but, everything else is good to go. Summers over, but the future is looking skinny!
I'm finding bones I forgot I had. Things sticking out, but that also includes other things hanging too! LOL !! Hope everyone is more than blessed, VickyRuth

July 30th
Jul 30, 2008
It's hard to believe the end of July is here! I can't wait to take my 2nd month picture on the 2nd. As of this morning I'm at 312lbs. I've had a couple of stalls in the last 2 weeks, nothing major just a couple of days with no loss. I'm still doing great though, and It's amazing to see the transformation. I gotta say, it's great to have people comment, but sometimes it's a little overwhelming too. The big thing is I feel good and I even went down the water slide yesterday at the hot springs! TWICE!! School is just around the corner, not sure I'm ready, But ready or not here it comes! I had hoped to be at 300lbs. by the start of school, but it will come fast enough. We're having a garage sale this weekend and community potluck, so that should be fun. Blessings to all, VickyRuth
