A Determined New Year

Jan 01, 2007

A year ago, I was convinced that self-pay was the only way to receive this surgery, and was ready to go for it, but my husband wasn't comfortable with the cost.. and I don't like to push him into financial responsibilities, so all of the work until today was given  up on!  I did join Curves and tried to lose twenty pounds.  I then used the new Bowflex that my husband bought, and nearly made it (I got to nineteen!) and was ready for a second consult with our chosen doctor... but we couldn't handle the financial burden so had to let go of that wish.

This morning, it's 2007 already and it's been nearly two years since I have become serious about losing weight and gaining my independent, healthier lifestyle.  I can't wait to move forward.

We are now able to add bariatric surgery to our group policy.  I am calling the insurance company today in order to give them the product code of the operation so that I can then find out any requirements as far as BMI and pre-requisite conditions which will then determine whether the company will approve and cover the surgery or not.  Wish me luck.  I have made up my mind to do this.

Now, if I can just figure out which career path I want to put my effort into.  But, one thing at a time, right?
