"Dr. Northup (it's with a u not an o!) was professional, courteous and very comfortable with his position as a surgeon. As I listened and talked with him, I found that there were times that I had to make myself more clear, because his mind sort of raced ahead and he was sometimes off-topic. I had asked him to slow down while he talked to me, because it is important that I understand what he's saying and thinking. I could tell that he wanted me to feel comfortable and he immediately accomodated my need to hear him clearly... and for him to hear me clearly.
What I liked the most about Dr. Northup is that he spoke to me as a woman in charge of her decisions, instead of telling me what we're going to do and which way the ball is rolling. I really like that he went over my desires for WLS and told me what was and was not "usual", helping to show me the path I should take without dragging me down it. Ultimately, he left the decisions up to me and it actually made me more accepting when he did offer advice. It helped me to respect him because he respected me.
His staff is very kind, hospitable and informative. I didn't get a lot of time with them... the nurse in charge of the class and the nutritionist were great."
"Dr. Hong is a light in my life. He is encouraging, compassionate, driven and knowledgable. He doesn't let me slip through the cracks (when I'm putting myself last) and encourages me to keep on caring about myself and my body. Dr. Hong answers my questions, keeps me current with lab information (via email!) and supports my weight loss efforts. He cares very much about my well-being. I'm grateful for his presence in my life."
