Dr Smith is a very kind and compassionate man. When I went in for my one year checkup and I had only lost 98 pounds he helped me not to get discouraged. He said that the pounds will come off as long as I keep doing what I am supposed to. He also took out my gall bladder 11 months following my RNY surgery.

Dr. Smith was very kind. He gave me the relative information for our first visit and was very open with me about the procedure both the benefits (many) and possible dangers. I have had two family members who have gone through the surgery with Dr. Smith and both are doing fantastic. I have my own personal support group :-)
Dr. Smith's office was very informative about the procedure and how my life will change. They reinforced that this is a lifestyle change, my eating habits and will to exericise will need to change in order for the surgery to be most beneficial.
I would refer someone to Dr.Smith that was considering the surgery. I feel very comfortable with him and truly feel he has my best interest at heart.
He seems to me to be both a compassionate person and gifted surgeon.

When I first met Dr. Smith, he was very professional and reserved and I knew I could trust him to do my surgery. His office staff is first-rate, very warm and personal. Nearly all of my pre and post surgical interactions were with Lisa Sironen ARNP. She is extremely knowledgable and easy to talk to. I liked her a lot.
Before finding Dr. Smith, I attended a bariatric surgery seminar at UC Physicians. I learned a huge amount at the seminar but I did not really want them to do my surgery. I felt like I would be one of their research projects, or like I would belong to them forever after the surgery. That bothered me. Dr. Smith's office was what I was looking for. They provided support before, during and after the surgery without being pushy.
The only thing I would change about my experience with Dr. Smith's office is that I would have preferred laproscopic surgery. It was not yet available when I had my surgery 12/8/03.

<font face="comic sans ms" size="+1">Dr Smith and Lisa are a great team. They answered all my questions, and made me feel very comfortable. While sitting in the waiting room of his office, I've talked to other patients, and all speak very highly of them. The office staff will also go out of their way to help you in any way they can. Natalie is a sweetheart, and handles all the insurance calls. She hangs in there and knows how to get results. I'm so glad I had this team to help me through. I'd refer them to anyone.
