He is great. He is a very caring doctor who treats you for who you are and not how big you are. His entire staff are as caring as he is.

Very nice, informative, took time with his patients
office staff was nice and informative and got things done quickly

Dr. Clements came by to see me right after surgery and apologized because he did not get to talk to my husband, but it wasn't because of him...it was my husbands fault that he missed him. I really like Dr Clements. He tells you just as it is and doesn't try to paint a pretty picture of this type surgery. I would reccommend him to any one!!

My first impression of Dr. Clements was great. He was totally professional, and I go the impression that he was the best. I also researched him online and through other patients, and another doctor even told me he was considered the best in my region.

Dr. Clement's office staff is very helpful. The best person he has on staff is Teresa Leath, RN. She had the surgery herself several years ago. Everytime I see her, she knows exactly who I am (unbelievable since they 100's of these operations!) and she is very kind, supportive, and friendly. She is definitely Dr. Clement's best asset, next to himself!

Dr. Clement's is a big believer in aftercare. He saw me two weeks post op, one month post op, three months post op, and still counting! He also wants to see patients at least once per year for the rest of their lives after surgery.

Before the surgery, I was very concerned about the risks, and Dr. Clements honestly addressed those risks for me. I was very pleased about that.

My overall rating of Dr. Clements is SUPERB, both in surgical competence, and bedside manner. He truly cares about his patients, and never once did he mention money to me, unlike the surgeon who did my mother's surgery. That was UTMOST concern: "how are you going to pay for the portion your insurance does not cover?" was what her surgeon FIRST asked her.
I felt like Dr. Clement's primary concern was my health and safety, and I appreciated that so very much.
I guess the only negative I have, is I would have liked more detailed information on nutrition, recipes, etc. There was some confusion between the hospital and Dr. Clement's office about what to eat postoperatively, etc. and I was somewhat confused because they had conflicting information. But that information is easily found online.
I highly recommend Dr. Ronald Clements to anyone seeking this surgery in the Birmingham, AL area. He is fantastic.

I CAN TRULY SAY THAT DR. CLEMENTS HAS BEEN A GOOD DOCTOR. HE SEEMS TO BE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND HE DEMONSTRATES "TOUGH LOVE"(GOOD WORD??) WHEN MAKING SURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING YOUR POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS. I APPRECIATE HOW HE ORDERS TESTS WHEN I FEEL I HAVE A PROBLEM OR CONCERN--HE CHECKS THINGS OUT IMMEDIATELY. I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED BY HIS SKILLS AND HIS PHYSICIAN'S MANNERS....I AM GLAD I CHOSE HIM AS MY BARIATRIC SURGEON, I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM ANY DAY. NOW HIS STAFF IS ANOTHER STORY, BUT THEY'VE PROVEN TO HAVE SHAPED UP A BIT LATELY. I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT HE HAS PROBABLY TAKEN ON TOO MANY PATIENTS, WHICH MAKES HIM SEEM A LITTLE BIT UNAVAILABLE AT TIMES, BUT IT'S NOT TOO BAD...OH, HE REMINDS ME OF OPIE A LITTLE BIT...THAT REALLY HELPED ME TO TRUST HIM EVEN MORE ; }.

Dr. Clements has a great sense of humor. He is compassionate and also "tells it like it is", which I love. He is a small framed guy and obviously has no weight issues, but he has a great understanding for overweight patients. He is an exceptional human being. I also cannot say enough about his nurse, Theresa, she has had surgery, and is a great patient advocate. She is patient with every small question. She is a walking encyclopedia of knowlege, and if Dr. Clements ever lost her as a nurse she would be impossible to replace. I would recommend him to anyone interested in WLS. He requires you to attend 2 support group meeting prior to surgery. The meeting really solidified my decision to have surgery. He is well loved by all of his patients and UAB staff as well. He emphasizes aftercare tremendously and tells you that if you are not prepared to follow the rules not to bother with surgery. He tells you that you cannot drink sweet liquids and eat sweets and be successful. He does not sugarcoat anything. He has earned my trust and respect totally so far and I am very skeptical of physicians since I work with so many of them on a daily basis. So far the only negative thing I can say is that it takes a while to get an appointment, but once you are in the staff is on the ball and things happen quickly. They call back when they say they will and are very caring and polite.

Dr Clements and his staff have been extremely professional and supportive throughout my entire experience. It was nice to finally find a doctor who "got it" I appreciated his pre-surgery extensive testing--it gave me the confidence to go ahead with the surgery. Dr Clements office submitted my information electronically to my insurance company (BCBS of AL)and I was approved within a week! With all of the pre-screening and his extensive questionaire, he seems to have the insurance companies figured out. Teresa Leath ,the Nurse Coordinator, has been very helpful and supportive to me as well. She really is the point of contact on scheduling all of the appointments and paperwork. I know they both have my best interest in mind and are always available when I need them. Dr Clements is THE BEST! A 10 out of 10. I look forward to continuing our successful relationship through follow-up appointments and his monthly support group.

October 4, 2004 I met with Dr. Clements today, I have to say I really liked his forwardness and he has a great personality! I really liked him. He said that he felt he could help me. I have to attend two support meetings and a diabetic test then we try BC/BS again!

I was very impressed with Dr. Clements experience and track record. His bedside manner is very professional but friendly.
The only problem I found was the length of time to get the initial appointment with him. After the first visit, things seemed to go pretty quickly. His office staff is very helpful.

I thought Dr. Clements was stearn about the importance of following the "rules" and the importance of the follow up visits to his office. His office staff are very helpful and considerate. Future patients should prepare for a cautious Dr Clements and staff to educate their patients about RNY gastric bypass to be used as a weight loss tool and not to abuse this procedure. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Clements, you must follow up with him, he has a structed plan to meet your weight loss goals. If you follow the plan your risk for failure is less than 1%. I have enjoyed my experience with Dr. Clements and his staff his patience and bedside manner was great!!!

My first impression about Dr. Clements was his knowledge about WLS. My thoughts has not changed in 2 1/2 years.

What I like most about Dr. C. is his bedside manner and unique way of handling his patiens.

His staff is very knowledgeable about WLS.

There is nothing that I like least about Dr. C. it is just that He wants you to go continue with all your post-op visits and I have never missed one.

Future patients should know that they need to be patient b/c it is so hard to get an appointment with Dr. C. He is a well sought after WLS physician.

He really stress aftercace and emphasize that an effort on your part is essential for the WLS process to work.

Dr. C. has a very structured aftercare program I have been to him consistantly for 2 years and now I have to see him in a year from now.

He constantly addressed the risk of surgery but constantly let you know that it is up to you about how you preceive WLS.

I would rate Dr. C. with a 10 for he is the greatest and I am so happy with the results in the end. I guess that makes me a living testimony.

Bedside manner and surgical competence is both great b/c I think they go hand in hand with the procedure.
