W. Robert Rout Bariatric Surgeon D.O., F.A.C.O.S.

He was very nice, professional and had a good sense of humor.

I met him in June 2000, had surgery Dec 6 and like him very much.

The staff in his office were great and concerned. I never had to wait on a call back and got all my questions answered promptly.

Don't let his dry sense of humor scare u. He is straight forward and very likeable.

Good aftercare program and good on answering phone calls. Have a 4 week post op appt in Jan 2001.

He addressed the risks and eased my concerns.

On a scale of 1-10 I'd give Dr Rout and hid staff a 10.

Dr. Rout is a straight forward man and tells it like it is. He is also compassionate and seems to be living in the real world. His staff was great and he even came to visit on the weekend in the hospital.

I'm one and a half weeks post op and so far the experience has been more painful than I expected but it has also been a positive one.

Dr. Routs is intelligent, sympathetic and helpful. Having done I guess 100"s of these operations, I suppose, he is well informed, but you need to know what to ask him, he cannot just spew out information and assume that it is what you need to know. I asked him pointed specific questions and he always answered them honestly and without flinching. I tend to be a cut up, so I think at first I thought he was serious, but hey, not everyone is a clown like me. His office staff is the absolute best, Judy who runs the office is the epitome of professionalism with a great big heart thrown in, she is a doll. The only drawback to Dr. ROuts is that you wait hours in the waiting room when you are scheduled for pre-op or post op checkups or consultations...although they do give you graham crackers, and while I have always brought a book to read, it really is not necessary because you come out of there with tips and a wealth of information that you hav garnered first hand from others that have either had the surgery or are preparing to have it. I would rate Dr. Rout and his staff 8.5 or 9 out of 10. I would have to say that surgical competence is of the utmost importance although bedside manner is helpful when you are in the hospital. I would highly recommend Dr. Rout

Dr. Rout is an amazing surgeon. The only thing I didn't like at first was the fact that he didn't seem friendly and warm. That feeling passed when I realized that he meant business and wasn't interested in wasting time. He cares about his patients and wants them to succeed. He is very direct,honest,informative,and his staff is wonderful. The aftercare structure program is great too. His staff makes you feel like a 'person' and not just a number. I rate him and his staff at the top of the line.

Very honest and straight forward. He doesn't sugar coat it. VERY respectable and oppinionated. Can be misconstrued as harsh or mean but some people are just too sensative.

after meeting with him for my pre-op appointment I feel very good with my decision. I have no doubt that he will do a great job and so will I.

I really enjoyed the meeting I had with Dr. Rout. He seemed very pleasent and forthcoming. He had a very cut and dry attitude towards having the operation and he said I met all the criteria.
His staff was very busy and not as "on top" of things as I would have liked, but everyone has bad days and I have only been once so far.
I think everyone should know that Dr. Rout does not approve everyone. He is not an easy doc to get to agree to do the surgery.
He was very concerned about my aftercare when I got back home. He wanted to make sure that I was going to be taken care of and that I would not have to take care of my children or my other "wifely duties" for a while.
We did not get into the risks as much as I would have hoped, but I have done alot of research on the web and I feel pretty well informed.

My first impression was very professional. Dr. Routes staff is WONDERFUL!!! Judy is always keeping me updated with what is going on and very helpful with my questions. The one thing I would say is he is upfront and very to the point. At this point I am glad I have chosen Dr. Route, I feel he is very knowledged in what he is doing, he informs you of the pros and cons of the surgurey. He stressed to me that the after care is one of the most important things to take care of. His office does provide after care. If I had to rate my doctor now before surgury I would rate him a 9 out of 10. The one thing I did not enjoy was that he had an assistant come and ask me alot of questions ex: what weight loss programs have I been on, when did I start gaining most of my weight.... I understand they need to know that but I felt weird telling his assisant insead of him ( Dr. Route). These are all my own personal experience and that I am not making no statement about what other people may experience.

I found Dr. Rout to be very nice. I am so easy to get along with so that maybe easy for me to say. He is a straight and forward man. He doesn't sugar coat anything about the surgery. He tells you what to expect, and He make sure that all your guestions are answered.

My surgeon's name is Dr Rout. He did a wonderful job with my surgery. I didn't exactly have a wonderful experience during my hospital stay but it wasn't traumatic either. I guess the hospital staff (nurses..etc..) were really busy. I didn't get attended to like I expected. But I was grateful for not having complications. There really isn't an aftercare program but I do go in monthly for B-12 shots so I have the opportunity to ask questions and get some answered if need be. Dr Rout didn't have the best bedside manner but he makes up for it in skill.I have alot of confidence in him and that is important. I would recommend him to anyone who lives around this area he has a great reputation.
