Update 10-6-03 Found out today my new surgeon will be Dr. Poplawski from BTC. I get to meet him tomorrow.

6-26-03 I met my surgeon, Dr. Batay-Csorba today for the first time for my consultation. I have to admit, I was nervous going in, but Dr. B-C (for lack of wanting to type his name out every time) was wonderful... He was very nice, professional, and answered all of my questions (and the questions my skeptical friend had as well).

His staff members were wonderful, very warm, and I felt comfortable with everyone. I wouldn't say that there was anything about him that I didn't like. He definitely stressed the importance of aftercare, and all of the precautions they take... It was a tad bit overwhelming, but in general very informative.

I would rate him a ten out of ten :)

UPDATE: 8-5-03 I found out last week that Dr. Batay won't be my surgeon, as he's leaving BTC in Ypsi to start up a BTC in Arizona. So who will my Dr. be? I've got no idea. I'm so totally bummed.

Well, I don't think every highly of this place at all. I went to the seminar and they were nice, but pretty fake - sorry people I can see right through you! I had a name tag with my insurance on it and I also put my insurance down when I signed up for the seminar. They had an interesting seminar - I'll give them that. Then they had a question and answer time. I wrote down about 5 questions and the Dr. answered all of them, because he did not know that I was the one that wrote them. I then rasied my hand about 6-7 times to ask another question. The (jerk) Doctor over looked me EVERY time, he acted like he was going to call on me until someone else raised their hand, then he skipped over me and asked the next person. I then filled out a survey to have them call me to set up a consiltaion. I waited a full week for them to call and they never did. So I called them. They told me that they do not work with my insurance (MCare) and pretty much told me I was a waste of their time (not in so many words, but that's how it sounded to me ... can you say RUDE!). So I came to the conclution that this Hospital only cares about the almighty dollar, or maybe they just are rude to people in wheelchairs (I am a paraplegic), maybe that is why the Doctor ignored me everytime I tryed to ask a question! PLUS, they KNEW that my insurance was not covered there, so maybe that is why he ignored me, and they let me WASTE 2 hours of my time at their hospital, when they knew they were not going to have me as a patient at their hospital. Well, all I have to say is don't go there unless you have the right insurance or you will get treated pretty bad.

Dr. DiNick, is very thorough and very honest. If you are sensitive..well, he is not your guy.

I chose Dr. Poplawski after attending a seminar in Ypsilanti. He was a Transplant Surgeon before starting Bariatric surgery. I am a nurse and I know how intricate transplant surgery is. Knowing his surgical background made him the hands down surgeon for me. He has also done many surgeries and never had anyone with secondary leaks. I liked the fact that he makes eye contact with you when answering questions and with him I felt like no question was a stupid one. After my consultation was complete, I felt better about my choice to have surgery. He also stresses that surgery is only a tool for weight loss and not a cure and how important after care is. He also puts alot of emphasis on how you MUST follow the eating program. My opinion is that I would recommend Dr. Poplawski.

I had my surgical consultation with Dr. Poplawski on 1/13/05. He was very pleasant and to the point. The Staff at the Barix Clinic were very helpful and a pleasure to work with. Dr Pop emphasizes the aftercare greatly as the surgury is just a tool. I feel very confident having him as my surgeon.

Look no further;this is your guy. Dr. DiNick did my tummy tuck in June, 2004.He has the most incredible bedside manner;he is patient and is a very good listener. Awesome sense of humer. He is a perfectionist. You will love his work. Don't delay;it takes months to get your surgery scheduled. It will be worth the wait.

The hospital and staff were great except for two nurses.....one named Donna should go find something else to do! She did not help me and she did not clean up after my many, many trips to the bathroom when I couldn't do anything for myself. I had the open procedure and I was having a hard time with moving around or getting around. The nurse right after Donna was not very helpful either. Everyone else was GREAT!!

Dr Poplawski is an awesome dr. he and his staff are very acommidating and very helpful. They treat you like you are the only person they are treating. Yes they have a stuctured aftercare program, and are very specific about the after care.
