My name is Tina Peden. I had my gastric sleeve surgery December 9,2013 at Huntsville Hospital surgery was done by Dr. Ravindra Mailapur the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever met. The office staff is friendly always happy. they will go beyond their means to help you. If you call the office with a problem or question it gets resolved and they always return your phone call. I suggest if you are interested in weight loss surgery that you attend a seminar it was very helpful to me and a big part in my decision to have the surgery. Dr.mailapur has 0 deaths and no complications and has performed thousands of surgeries . That alone speaks for it's self he is great !!!! He tells you the surgery is a tool he gives you the rest is up to you. He gives you a diet to follow if you follow his instructions you will have great results. the consultation was very informing he goes over everything the pros and cons of the surgery for me it was more pros than cons. I have been over weight all my life. As of today I am down 68 pounds !!! best decision I have ever made. he really emphasizes getting your protein, drinking.. your water, walk or some sort of excerise, take you multivitamin and calcium, If you follow his instructions you will do great. the entire experience from start to finish was great. I would do it all again he gave me a tool to work with that being said I am thankful for it saved my life. I recommend Dr. Mailapur highly.

Dr. Mailapur was wonderful during my process of revision from a lapband to RNY . It was a process to get the procedure approved from the insurance company. His office staff were excellent in helping me handle these hurdles. There was also lots of preop testing for various things that Dr. Mailapur requires, some seemed like overkill at the time, but I'm glad to know my health is important to him. I don't blame him for being cautious with his patients. I'm blessed to have found a surgeon who cares. The nutrition class , the seminar, the support groups where all very informative and I think important, since this is a "tool" and not a sure thing. He is very caring and when I had some issues after surgery, he always called me back personally-which I think is great. He is very positive, but firm about this being a tool that I have to work with to make progress in my weight loss journey. I am thrilled with my weight loss to date-81 pounds at 3 months out of revision to RNY. I would recommend Dr. Mailapur if you are considering barbaric surgery.

Dr. Mailapur and his team put a lot of emphasis on learning about the process prior to surgery. His classes were outstanding in that they prepared you for exactly what you would go through in the process through pre-op to post-op which was geared towards the type of surgery I was having. The written materials are easy to follow as well and a constant reference. I am beginning week 3 post-op and moving through his recommended stages. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Mailapur and his team throughout my weight loss and beyond. I would highly recommend Dr. Mailapur to anyone thinking about bariatric surgery.

Dr. Mailapur was the doctor that I used for my surgery. I was very happy with him and the results of my surgery. His office staff are very helpful.
Dr. Mailapur went above and beyond to help me with my surgery. My insurance company denied me at first, Dr. Mailapur did a peer-to-peer call with the insurance doctor to get them to approve my surgery.
I have been so happy with the results of the surgery so far. I am 3 months post surgery and have lost 35 lbs. Every day is exciting for me. I can't wait to get on the scale and see how much I weigh. This is a first for me!

Dr. Mailapur is a wonderful Doctor! I had the Sleeve surgery and 3 years previously he was the Doctor that took my gall bladder out. He was/is kind and caring. I found his card from my gallbladder surgery and decided to check out his weight loss seminar. I was so glad I did! I had my sleeve done 7/1/13 and it was the best thing I have ever done. I just wish I would have done it sooner! I have a whole new life because of him, and I'm just so thankful!

Dr Mailapur was the first doctor that would talk to me about my weight problem. He really seems to care about his patients, and not just in it for the money. His staff went the extra mile to help with all the paperwork, insurance company and what ever else was needed to get approved for the surgery. If I had to say anything negative about him, is he needs to spend a little bit more time with his patients durning the hospital visit. I don't think I could of had a better doctor in Huntsville.

I have been considering Bariatric surgery for over 12 yrs but never found a physician with whom I felt confident enough until I met Dr. Mailapur. His staff and team are excellent in providing answers to all your questions and some you didn't know you had. They have seminars, support groups, professional nutrition help all available for you. I knew ahead of time all the risks and what would be required of me to be successful on this journey to better health. Dr. Mailapur takes his time with you on appointments and makes sure your questions are answered. Overall, I am very satisfied with my treatment, surgery, and care. I highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.

Dr Mailapur educated me in all aspects of my surgery of what to expect in results, diet, recovery time, life changes. I am 65 years old and am happy with every aspect of my surgery, the results, and follow up care given by Dr Mailapur. Dr. Suggs was not the first surgeon I had consulted with about my WLS...but he was the last. After my brother and his wife were treated by him, I felt he could be the right surgeon for me. The second I met his staff, and eventually him...I knew I was in the right hands. The overall process from the first consult until the surgery itself was quick and painless. I never once had a concern, as Dr. Suggs explained everything in full detail, and was always there to answer questions. Thankful that I had this opportunity at a better life. Would (and HAVE) highly recommend.
